The new rules for free stats will come in D&d 5.5 in 2024 as of latest news but is now In Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse book. I posted a link but it was removed

@@RekitRogue addmitedly not, but last Panel from hell shows each race having same +2 and +1 (even ones that should by tashas rules get more) and human proficencies didnt match so its generally asumed its from upcomming one dnd rather than tasha rule. Most likly to attach positivity to changes by tieing them to popular and generally well received product.

im 100% down for the way they are doing ability score increse instead of traditional race stuff because 99% of people will do the most efficient thing and lock each class they play to the best race instead of the one they want to play. I am a slave to it as well. Every time i played a charisma class i went half elf, strength gith and dex elf now the only thing locking me in is i refuse to not have fey ancestry because of all the sleep spammers

Its good BG 3 nerf the Op races as well it gives the player freedom of choice. Thats also why wizard of the coast changes it to a +2/+1 free allocation in the upcoming new rules for d&d 5.

I agree the +2/+1 for BG3 is a fine choice, it won't drastically effect gameplay, nor any build variety come late game. Tabletop DnD can't be nerfed or gatekept, it comes with a dungeon master who can always homebrew/house rule anything they disagree with.

@@SamlovesLulu Simple can be fun, Try to dungeon master a group of 7 people through the old Pladium character creation. Simplicity/plug and play gets you into the game faster, less time looking up rules and not everyone has 20 years of DnD experience. Just because THACO "was" a ancient rule, doesn't make it a good one. If 5e and BG3 are based around the crayon eaters... Pass me a red crayon 🖍️ (they are my favorite)

@@RekitRogue Not my point, really. Developers strive against all sense to make a game that appeals to everyone. Not because it makes a good game, but because it makes a good corporate bottom line. But that invariably means that anyone who DOES know a franchise, and is a dedicated player, loses big time. Also hurts hard core players, which I am not one of, friend. I have no prob with 5E rules or accessibility. But the word "NERF" puts a really nasty taste in my mouth. Look at Blizzard if you want to see corporate dickheads who know jack about games making decisions about class strength.

@@SamlovesLulu That is a rather ignorant opinion since with the new rules both new and experienced player can choose with a higher freedom based on what you like. If you want to play races as earlier you can with the exception of the three races that was OP. I guess you are angry because you can not min max any more. To bad for you.😔

When it comes to the race issue, having played most versions of D&D (not chainmail...) the only constant is change. Not a fan of much in D&DOne... but this concept works for me personally. A dwarf who, against their culture's usual ways, spends no time doing physical work, and instead spends time in a library... studying. making the change to MY Dwarf Wizard to +2 intelligence, and +1 whatever make a lot more sense. Sure, they will still have the racial feats (think genetics)... but my stats will reflect my actual life leading up to level 1. This does not leave Humans out... they do still get some base features (proficiencies mostly it seems). But it certainly does counteract the "everyone is a half-elfor they are crap" concept. And also keep in mind just how many magic items could end up as being racially enhanced... humans do tend towards that concept, hmm? Two images come to mind, for me. the first is a female Drow Cleric of Lolth. Historically regarded as the most dangerous priestly groups on Faerun.. until versions 4 and 5. bringing back that concept potential, stat-wise is like a step away brom blasphemy :) The other image is one of a character concept. A gnome... one who has always been picked on. teased and bullied, by everyone who was bigger than they are...until the day, as a kd, that they FREAKED THE FUCK OUT! Training this as they grew would, of course, be them proving themselves over and over that they are NOT tiny NOT a runt ...etc etc. Gnomebarian berserker anyone?

Hmmm, heres some food for thought.... Does this mean that the Characteristic scores for Gale and Wyll will be changed? Humans no longer getting the +1 in all scores and also Shadowheart being 1/2Elf?. Peace

Guess only time will tell, but I'm going to assume Gale will be rocking a +2 int and Wyll a +2 Cha. Hard to tell were the +1's will go. It's a good question though ❓

I dnt mind it too much since im not playing with other people except my friends so of course let them play how they want but for us we're going to try to stick to as lore based as we can. I dnt play elves to run around as gigachad barbs I play them knowing im going to almost for certain locked into a dex based cleric. Im a big believer in choices and consequences as it makes every race feel like it has its own thing like I said tho if its what the masses want let them have it. It wont bother our private sessions at all.

Placing your +2/+1 close to the racial traditional scores is also a very good option, and I agree, if the people want cake.. let them have cake.

In the PFH they actually said Act 1 was now just 25%, not 33% lol.That means the game swelled quite a bit!

Yup they said it’s 25% of the game but contains 33% new content not seen before in early access. That’s sounds like a maths equation from hell to work out exactly how much we’ve already tried lol

Unless you are purchasing a hundred games per year, you shouldn't be getting the shaft by as many developers as you claim. The next two games that I purchase will be Starfield and FC 24. Both of those games, out of the box, will give me about 400 hours each. Baldur's Gate III will give me about 200-300 hours. That's over a thousand hours of gaming through Christmas. It sounds like you need to cut back on the amount of games that you are purchasing, or be smarter about your selections. If you feel that you are being ripped off every time that you purchase a video game, that's on you. It's not the developer's fault. Research them better. Take fewer risks. Same as you would when selecting a movie.

I don't feel ripped off, I think that BG3 is going to be very worth. My example was for Anthem, and there are definitely companies that are way more interested in your wallet than your fun. But, I do agree that it is always a calculated risk, and if that falls on me for "buying to soon" or "Not doing my research." Than, I'll take that hit and keep moving forward, and Thank you for the very sound advice. 🙏

Its not the customers fault if a game company sell poor quality games like Fallout 76, cyberpunk or Diablo 4. Or fill their games with microtransactions or lootboxes. I as a customer will not buy products from them in the future, easy as that. 🤮
