A couple notes: - All races now get +2/ +1 to two stats of their choice, so human gives no mechanical benefit - Heavy armor in BG3 does not require any strength (but it does add a lot of weight). - So you can use a spread of 17 cha (18 with Ersatz Eye), 16 con, 14 wis, 10 dex. - Always start with sorcerer, not cleric, so you hav have constitution proficiency for concentration!!!!! - Unless they change things (which they might), you will not have access to chain lightning, since sorcerers get access to 6th level spells at 11. We have a 6th level spell slot, but no 6th level spells, our best option lategame is still to upcast lightningbolt

No need to start with 17 Charisma, it gives no extra benefit. When/if you get gear that gives you a +1 to Cha just respec to get yourself to 18. But you're correct on everything else. Have a great release!

@@heqitao Sure :) Get Volos Eye, you are at 18, than a single ASI, and you are at 20, and now you still have 1 ASI left to take a feat of your choice or push con to 18 I dislike respecing tbh. Sure, you can do it, but it does not add you all that much, only 2 more points in a stat of your choice. The beginning is easy enough, that you do not need it, imo :) And I am a bit worried about how respecing and permanent boni will interact. Imagine you switch from a Sorcerer to a Wizard, and had previously used the Ersatz Eye. Do you now still have the -1 int? And can you remove it somehow? I think respecing means leveling the character up from level 1 again, and you might lose all permanent buffs

@@aldoushuxley5953 Fair enough. Respeccing is part of the game so I don't have a problem with it, but your concerns are definitely valid. I don't think respeccing out of one class into another is a good plan due to the issue you brought up, but for people who's OCD freaks out when they are not perfectly min maxed respeccing frequently is certainly an option. As someone who bought, but did not play EA because I want to go into the full game blind(ish), I will definitely miss some (most) of the gear and will in no way be min maxed. Respeccing may be helpful depending on what I find. No idea what Volos Eye is. I am familiar with Ersatz Eye, but I have no idea where to get it or the RP requirements to have it fitted so I will probably not end up having it on my first playthrough at least. GL and HF once you get to some of BG3's new content that you have not experienced yet.

@@heqitao This is not a major spoiler, so I hope it is ok. I will tell you where to get Volos Ersatz Eye, if you do not want to know, stop reading now. The Ersatz Eye gives a character -1 int and +1 cha. You get it after freeing Volo in the Goblin Camp, but actually, you can get it a lot earlier than that. You meet him for the first time in the druid grove, next to the idol of Sylvanus. You can pickpocket him (just use an invisibility potion) and you have it. That is still in the beginning of EA, so maybe 2 hours playing at most?

You can start as a Tempest cleric, then do a quick dip into Sorcerer (one level) for shocking grasp and chromatic orb, and go Tempest cleric as a dragonborn (blue or bronze ancestry = lightning breath) the rest of the way. You can also forgo the level in Sorcery, go Tempest Sorcerer all the way and take a feat at level 4 (Magic initiate, Sorcerer) which still gets you shocking grasp and chromatic orb. Finally, if you want the most feats as a multiclasser, (which is 3, barring taking an 8 level fighter dip as they get feats at level 4 ,8,12 and an extra feat at level 6), then a total of 4 sorcerer and 8 tempest cleric, or 8 sorcerer and 4 Tempest cleric, will allow you to keep those three feats or ASI's. Taking 3 or more levels in Sorcerer allows you to take three metamagic feats, including the twinned spell, so the two possiblilties I just mentioned, will allow that. I'll have to see if the transmuted metamagic feat is a thing at release, that would allow even more craziness.

I still think 2 cleric 10 sorc is best. But I would for sure start on sorc for con saves.

Im planning on going blue dragonborn blue draconic ancestor at creation. Lvl 3 Sorc first for quickened spell metamagic then Lvl 5 Cleric for the additional lvl 3 lightning spells Glyph of Warding - Lightning and Call Lightning. I might even go to Cleric Lvl 6 for the additional lightning dmg buff charge per rest if that makes it into the game then dump the rest of my levels back into my drac sorc.

Just think that they might add to the list the transmuted metamagic, that let’s you change the element of your spell …. Fire thunder ball ? Or basically any spell you might think about it.

@@NotSoUpstandingCitizen it is not the same, elemental adept allows you to bypass resistance and improove the 1 on the rolls for the element you choose. Transmuted metamagic allows you to chage the elements of your spells, like thunderball instead of fireball or cone of thunder instead of cone of cold ... those will be major game changing plans for the storm/tempest multiclass

Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer was my favorite EA build, and one I plan on playing after full release. Had planned on only taking a 1 level dip into Tempest Cleric @ level 6, as I didn't want to lose out on 6th level spells, but if Larian actually allows full spell casters to combine their levels for spells, not just slots, I can see this build being OP. However, if Larian doesn't, would you respec in order to get 6th level spells, and, if so, at what level? Another good video.

6th level spells aside, keep in mind that a 1 level dip doesn't get you the channel divinity (the main reason to multiclass tempest cleric) and would cost you an ASI and an additional sorcery point compared to just doing 12 levels of sorcerer. A single sorcery point might not sound like much, but quicken costs 3 points in BG3, so it's functionally like losing a use since you can only quicken 3 spells without converting/resting instead of 4. If you want to dip, 2 levels is probably optimal since you'd get the channel divinity and still be able to use your 6th level slot for upcasting even if they don't change how spell progression works. With quicken costing so much and losing an ASI at 12th level (and possibly losing access to 6th level spells), even dipping for the 2 levels of tempest cleric isn't a clear winner here.

Has anyone tried this at level 12? What's the optimum ratio of Sorcerer vs Tempest Cleric? What is the best subclass for Sorcerrer? Draconic or maybe Storm Sorcery?

My preference is to storm sorcery for the ability to freely reposition after casting a leveled spell. I've taken the multiclass up to level 12 as a tempest cleric 2 and storm sorcerer 10, you dont get access to chain lightning but there's a legendary staff that lets you cast chain lightning and you can still upcast lightning bolt to 6th level (which is actually more impactful than a twinned chain lightning depending on how many targets you can line up) so it's still great just make sure to wet your enemies before you zap them with the wrath of god

@@KazuYuuu Yeah this sounds like a very solid DPS build. It should be able to take on even the toughest bosses and their supports in a tactician mode game. Effectively it should make anything, except maybe lightning immune targets quickly go down.

Weird. It should have given it to you at level 1 cleric when you chose tempest domain. It gave me fog cloud and thunderwave as my domain spells

@@Sinika Just to be clear. I have those spells at level 1 but they do not appear in my divinity spell listwhen selecting the Channel divinity button (third option at bottom of the screen) at level 2. Is this list adjustable or are the spells that are applicable, added to this list automatic at each level?

Max level is 12, which can be distributed between classes, the highest level possible allows for more powerful upgrades. Late game is alright, you gradually build more power, however tactician late game is very punishing of small mistakes. You can also save reset mid-fight so you can win any fight with patience, scrolls of revive are also very widely distributed, you're not risking much by allowing someone to die.
