Oh shit, what a weird idea! You might just be a genius. I suppose if you make sure to have protection from negative energy you can do this without being afraid of level drain from a lucky hit while turning them, but other than that I don't see any downsides. Gonna try it next time I get high enough level to turn vampires.

Thanks yet again for another neat guide. Regarding the limited Wish option and why "beeing protected from Undead" would summon Vampires: There's a small detail, addendum, to the low Wisdom option, as it say proetected from Undead RIGHT NOW. Now from the djinees pov he doesn't lie when he sends some Vampires after you, AFTER he proceeded the time to midnight. I always loved that small detail

Thanks for the series Dav! Death spell / death fog kills all summons. They won't kill demons, deva, a planetar, because these are extraplanar gated creatures, not summons. As for Protection from Evil and demons, it depends on your config, but even knowing that it's pretty random.

I'm playing a sorcerer and I have just been picking from the higher tier spells from these spell guides. Sleep has been a absolute killer spell at lower levels, but my mage is scripted and keeps casting the spell on groups of high level enemies (I'm over halfway through BG1) so its doing nothing which is really annoying. Do you know of any mods that script better spell choices? Or is it just time to stop playing scripted and be less lazy haha.

For me, Sphere of Chaos is more of a meme spell than something actually useful. And it can break the game in a funny way :). If you import a high level wizard/sorcerer to BG1 and start the game with them, you can put it 3x in a Chain Contingency and set it to fire at nearest enemy when taking damage. With some luck/reloads it's perfectly capable of killing Sarevok and his gang in the cutscene where they fight with Gorion xD. Sadly, this will have no effect on the plot of the game, and Gorion will die anyway since his death is scripted (even if Sarevok is dead, he still somehow manages to deliver the killing blow).

Quick side note on Project Image: originally it should be able to cast YOUR spellbook, aka you should be able to cast spells through this image, but obviously it should use up your spellbook, and not just double your spells, effectively. Basically a fix would be somehow adjusting the image's book to overwrite yours at the end somehow, then it would be an ok spell. Still would be powerful, but heck, illusion spells deserve some love after they totally dismissed the lvl 4 phantasmal killer from the game. :-(

25:15 there are so many spells in this game, I tested K-whip finally and ITS AMAZING! we should rename it Lich-slayer :D i don't need an army of spell-strike on my "that wiard" any more :D this with breach is just that damn good. It's a gift that keep giving :D ans you hammer those bosses down :D

I think at low wisdom you actually use the phrase "I want to be protected from the undead right now", and the genie obliges by giving your friends the opportunity to protect you from the undead right now. There are some differences in the exact words you use at different levels of wisdom, and it plays a bit with the old monkey's paw trope of being really careful how you phrase your wishes, since you could grant someone's wish word for word in a nasty way which was not what they actually wanted. That's impossible to recreate in any real way within the system of these games, so we just have to suspend our disbelief and agree that a character with high wisdom can phrase their wish in such a way that the genie has to give them what they actually want, but a character with low wisdom will basically tell the genie "I want to be the bee's knees!" or something like that and let the genie interpret that as it will.

"I want to be protected from the undead right now" means that the Genie interprets you saying that you want to be protected right now, but not at a later time like say midnight. That's why the time is set to midnight, to imply that we've fast forward from "now" until "later" when you no longer want to be protected from the undead.

spell sequencer lends a new lease of life to multiple lvl 3-4 spells triple fireball, flame arrow, confusion... you name it

More information from my research on the wiki. Mordenkainen’s sword has a base attacks per round of ONE. Regular haste is all you need to double attacks per round if you’re buffing up your swords. Now, Skelton warriors have an APR of 2. Improved haste will increase APR to 4. Might be worth it, might not. Your call. I’d buff them up with improved haste if you’re sending them into a deep strike. I typically use farsight with my sorcerer for deep strikes like the lair of the eyeless. Wizard eye triggers agro. Sphere of Chaos ignores magic resistance in BG2 classic. If it does in EE with SCS, it will be must-have in my sorcerer’s spell book. 🙂

as i re-watch this from combat experience my favorite combo is Chaos WITH cloud kill just make the enemy silly and watch them run around in the smoke like crazy ants:D and if thy manage to come out well focus fire :D Chaos with Vekna robe is an instat win in even an ambush its that good and i use it on envoker and/or necro :D (having problems with the Clory mages because you casst on the open :D chaos gass them :D it so damn fun that the fireballs can pup out :D) also this is a relation to another video Cloud kil is ALSO envocation ....so ....enchanter is a terrible class :D

Limited wish: Start a combat with a mage past midnight and run away. Ask for protection from undead with a low wisdom character. The time fast forwards 24 hours and after you've dealt with the vampires the mage has lost all of his buffs other than stoneskin. It's almost like you have a spell to turn off SCS prebuffing.

Spell immunity div in my game was nerfed, good point I should bring it up though for people with different versions. As for the PWK combo I was going to save that for PWK, same with the Wish/limited wish combos (make everyone intoxicated/fatigued etc can be taken care of via limited wish, but it incurs a massive penalty to enemies). I tried using the Hakeshar against the vigilant eyes in Abazigal's lair. It worked well at tanking those spells, until they summoned an ettercap and left the thing with half its health after coming in to save it.

I am just getting back into BG and as someone who played hardcore (ultima online basically, diablo 3, path of exile amazed that its possible to play hardcore in this game. I wouldn't make it to level 4. Playing solo, usually, insane. Haven't figured out how to get modded yet.

17:36 - Why does "I want to be protected from the undead" at low wisdom summon a bunch of vampires under the cover of darkness? Why naturally, it's so that you can be turned into a vampire! No more problems with the undead, when you become one of them! Complete protection, never runs out! Easy! ;)

41:57 Efreeti is my favorite spell in he game for offense, my simulacrum army spam this and thy are perfect tanks vs EVEN Planatars (The Winged) they can tank anything, if mass army they cast fireballs, if 1 enemy they are damage and meet tanks. Why not Morteky sword? Its slow so damn slow and dos not do fireball :D

@davaeorn I actually found Power Word Stun pretty irritating recently when facing enemy demons in Watcher's Keep on SCS. They kept hitting my Mages with it, and since Spell Turning etc wasn't part of my typical defenses routine, I kept getting stunned. I got around it by using Spell Immunity: Conjuration but looking back I wonder if Spell Turning might have been a good option as well. Not sure how often they spam PWS. My normal routine was to have Spell Protection: Abjuration up to avoid dispels and PWS was one of the few scenarios where I went outside of my norm with that and used a different defense instead.

If you use fireball with a level 16 dragon disciple. While having both protect fire and fire sheild won't you get a pretty good heal? With the dragon disciples passive fire resistance mind you. But I would use base fireball for this.

The resist sadly reduces the damage you take which is then calculated for the heal, so instead of taking a 100 fireball and healing for 100, you're healed for a % of it, which is usually low, but its definitely helps for sure.

demon summoning is not balanced out. i mean out dont get xp for their killing and you don't get xp for killing your summons eiver. i also think summoning from another planes stuff shout be kinda more random from lvl 7-9 with a stronger version of spell making gate wider into local invasion

I used summon efreet on wildmage troug nagals dveomer. When i was able to cast lvl 5 spells=) he helps me in under graveyard. So even rhey shit u can abuse them as wildmage. I know they are unstable so nit for your difficulty but they are fun to play.

Nope they got rid of a lot of D&D inconveniences in bg2, like MR blocking healing spells or even potions. I ended up using 3 on viconia in bg1 before I realized what was actually happening lol. 33:48 Pretty sure you don't lose reputation for people killed by demons. That's because they count as hostile, and so their kills are not attributed to the party (same reason why you don't get experience for their kills). I sometimes summon demons as a safer form of pickpocketing :)

Sometimes you do sometimes you don't its weird, sometimes when you kill a planetar you get 22k xp, sometimes nothing. When it comes to killing your OWN summons tho you shouldn't be getting xp.
