The Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza is a regional indoor shopping mall in the Crenshaw District of Los Angeles. It was formerly known as the Broadway Crenshaw Center when the mall opened in November of 1947 and it is one of the first shopping malls in the country designed ideally for the automobile. The original two anchors with its streamline moderne architecture still exist today that complements the time when it was built with a few renovations as the years pass by. This was once an outdoor shopping center-the 1st of its kind on the West Coast. What is Macy's today (which is about to close) was once May Company. What was WalMart was originally The Broadway Dept. Store. The area was bustling during the '50's & '60's which included Woolworth's & Newberry Dept. stores, an Ontra's Cafeteria, Von's Supermarket, & other small chain stores. After renovations, there was a Sears Dept. store at the south end of the Mall which closed approx. 5 years ago. This mall will probably become office space.

thats actually what got Walmart to shut down. I'm 32 and have been coming to this mall with my mom and brother since the mid/late 90s. They need better management and need to expand it.
