Yay! Chris is back with another awesome hay farm project! It has been a while... I definitely like the additional rear caddie/frame in the back that replaces the factory Vermeer R23 rear frame and tires. I think that's stronger than other rake/roll custom designs out there, there's just no doubt the back of the rake is going to hold up under the load of pulling a baler. I would definitely like to see more videos on this topic...

Pretty nice, Chris. Look forward to seeing your repairs. I grew up around Salado, TX so I know what you mean about hay drying. I'm in Northwestern PA now, and I had 5 days of sunshine, and my hay still wasn't dry enough to bale. I have a 467 Haybine and have the swath plates as wide as they can go so my hay can dry .

So good to see you back! I was worried about you. How's the Massey Ferguson doing? How did your season turn out?
@CenTexAg11 ай бұрын
The last 2 years were a little tuff because of the droughts but I manage to make some hay. I’ll do an update video on the Massey soon

I've had many days I couldn't rake because the wind blew the windrows away

@@CenTexAg post up some videos brotha! I’m itching to get my first year of hay cutting under way here in southern Indiana! My new 4710 is still delayed and just got delayed again another 30 days, fender was damaged at a shipping port in Baltimore. They are gonna try to get it fixed asap before they send it up my way but it’s cutting close to hay time!!

New to yout channel, i just subscribed. We are thinking about purchasing a newholland 450 utility plus baler . Have you been happy with yours ? Are the bales tight ? Any pros conns will be appreciated.. Thanks
@CenTexAg9 ай бұрын
Yeah I’ve been happy with it. The bales are tight. The net wrap version is sensitive to what brand of wrap you run. It handles the JD (Tama) wrap with no problems but when I tried the Vermeer/bale tuff brand I had more issues like half the bale being wrapped or the knife not cutting the wrap. The 450U is meant for small farm operation so if you’re getting into custom work and pumping out the bales you may want to look into the RB450.

@@CenTexAg no custom work, just make around 300-400 for our self. The 450 pro balers are little on heavy side / large bulky machines for me .. Does your utility 450 have the stuffer fork on the pick up head ? Or is that something they added for 2024. Do you ever have to adjust your bale density or set it and forget about it ? Hard to belive these machines are up to $40k this year ..
@CenTexAg9 ай бұрын
@@chadmullen3032 300-400 is nothing for the 450U. I averaged 800-900/per yr the past two years and it hasn’t had any major issues. I did buy it used and the monitor showed a low bale count but I think it was wrong. I had to change the belts because a few belt lacings were starting to tear slightly and that made me nervous. I also have changed almost all the pickup tines but almost all my fields have terraces and the pickup bottoms out every time I run over them putting stress on the tines. Other than that no issues “knock on wood”. It does not have the stuffer fork (I don’t think there was an option for my year) and I have never adjusted the bale density. I check the pressure at the beginning of every season and it is holding perfect. It’s ridiculous how expensive they have gotten! It just keeps getting more challenging for the little guys to make it.

Are you gonna run that RB 450U behind that rake? I’ve got the same baler and have been looking for a bale connect rake for it.
@CenTexAg10 ай бұрын
That’s the plan

Hey Chris, how is the wiring harness set up for that rake? I just bought one and it doesn’t have a harness. Is it spliced together or is it a custom?
@CenTexAg8 ай бұрын
It’s custom and basically an extension harness for the baler. You can build one for yours. You just need to look at your deutsch connector on your round baler to get the numbers off of it. Then search that part number on buydeutsch.com and you can find everything you need on that website. I’m planning on making an update video soon and I will show how I made the harness
