Erm.... I do not know why people call this a 'reset' ? It's just the same old Balenciaga of the last few years but without the gimmicky stage shows.

To me this is Balenciaga playing it very safe, toning it right down, no gimmicks or tricks, in light of the ad scandal. The show feels sombre, almost funeral, and stripped of the story line I can't see that many new ideas here although there are some really lovely moments. The lank haired androgynous model opens the show as if copied and pasted from any other show, over sized jackets and coats, science grad goes to her 1st interview with mums old 1980's suit 4 sizes too large, Evel Knievel with fantastic leggings + terrible posture, Victoria Beckham has an unsmiling night out in a glittery dress and shades, everyone plodding down unsmiling, no make up, ugliest denim jacket competition winner, it's all a bit too familiar. Fantastic bag though I have to say, there had to be a change this time, we all knew that, but I wish it could have been more like the bag and less like some of the bespectacled models, hasn't that worn a wee bit thin now?

if Balenciaga is over, it's for this lack of inspiration, not for the recent scandals. I understand the brand is in a crisis, and it's hard to put together something as energetic as before. I hope Demna will recover from this period of uncertainty to bring on the creative works like he did at the beginning of his limelight. Overall, this is a step back, maybe to step forward with something else bigger later.

Some of these outfits are just plain boring....the wide, raised, hunched shoulders gave an uncomfortably tense impression. As for the puffed out, hunchback-like jackets, they looked like they were worn over lifejackets🌊💀😝!

I love Demna. If there is one thing this collection is trying to say, it’s; “I’m sorry”. Models sent out with little to no makeup, long coats transition to jumpsuits (which I interpret as a symbol of vulnerability), the lowkey music. It’s a very sad collection overall, as if to be a grand gesture of humility. Bless Demna’s heart. 💔

Indeed much like Michele (gucci), we have seen here that the vocabulary was limited but he managed to fool the world thanks to hypebeasts collabs (I must admit I want the Lay’s clutch), clickbait products, controversies and brutalists sets. Here we are, stripped from all the effects, with just clothes to speak and there’s nothing. For some reason, I believed he was going to do a Vaccarello and make references to the founder, to something more classic, elevated, chic. There are 2 looks I loved in this whole collection and the pant-boots are great. I feel like we are coming to the end of his era. If Pinault is clever, he won’t renew his contract because clearly he has nothing else left to say.

Addition of colorful dresses was nice but videography was terrible. All you see is an individual walking in black with pieces of material flapping, with no distinction if it’s from a skirt, a coat, a decorative swag from a dress. And you definitely can’t tell from the models body movements or expressions! It’s definitely time to rethink your model lineup to a more “real world” approach. Like Kim, Nicole, and Naomi.
