Not many people know this, I didn't when I went to the coffee plantation... but the luwak's normal diet is vegetation and some coffee beans. The locals originally collected the droppings from the forest ground and sifted through to get the beans to roast. They realized it was profitable and sought after; they began to manufacture the beans by feeding coffee beans to captive luwaks to make collection easier. But this isn't their normal diet. This is done on a really large scale for exporting as well. The coffees and teas at plantations are so beautiful and the tour is really cool (definitely a great experience), but I was unaware of behind the scenes of luwak coffee bean production :(

When I was young my childhood home had this HUGE butterfly bush right in the middle of the yard. It's large to me now as an adult, so it really must have been massive to someone in grade school. Long story short I got swarmed, so butterflies really make my skin crawl. My mom and dad took me to one of these butterfly sanctuaries in the hopes that me seeing how harmless and beautiful they were it would help, but I'd honestly rather be covered in snakes. So you guys are brave af to me!! Hope you had a wonderful trip :)

this made me miss ubud so much. we went for our honeymoon in April and ubud was definitely our favorite. the food there was absolutely insane. also did the same thing re bali belly but unfort I got it ugh. plus a few parasites. apparently it's how they cook their food.
