Join me for the electrifying night parade of Bali's Kesanga Festival! Gigantic, monster-like Ogoh-Ogoh creations come alive, driving away evil spirits in a fiery spectacle. Absolutely unmissable!
As I go to new places and try new things in Sanur, I'll be posting updates on a regular basis, so subscribe to see what else I stumble upon.

Thanks! Fabulous to see once again. My birthday falls in March so was lucky to witness this personally one year, back in 2005. Memorable. Hope the legs recover quickly!

Happy birthday for later this month! The ogoh-ogoh parades certainly are memorable. I just wish there was more publicly available info on where and when they’re happening and also a bit more context about what exactly is going on 😅

I was actually lucky to see it as well. Getting the info in these events is really difficult, even in the local language. I think this sort of event is world class and on par with some other festivals I’ve seen in places like Spain and Mexico. But the promotion just isn’t there and perhaps there isn’t a recognition that many people from all around the world would think that this is an amazing cultural event to witness! Whatever the case, hope you get to see the ogoh-ogoh next time they’re out and about!

That was fantastic! I think we’ll try and get there one day at that time so we can see it first hand.

Yeah it’s something that I think is worth a look. More than worth a look. I think if you can get the right information, it’s a world class cultural event. Currently it’s hard for us as outsiders to get the full picture of what’s happening and the context often isn’t understood… It would be good if the local authorities created a program like they do in many other countries where it outlines what’s going on at what time, what the purpose of different actions… that sort of stuff.
