Yeah it's one of the more expensive places in Sanur unfortunately. I'll try and get some reviews up of more affordable places in the future. What sort of price range do you think would be a good idea to focus on?

Love the Hyatt Regency. We are staying again for 7 nights in September. That will be our fourth visit this year. Pizzeria Restaurant is the best in Sanur.

Wow! Lucky you! It's such a great hotel and I agree that Pizzaria is one of the best in Sanur. There's just something about the location that gives off a beautiful beach vibe. Great food too.

Morning mate You hit the nail on the head, that is the best thing about old resort the established gardens it makes so tropical
@SanurDiaries18 сағат бұрын
Yeah I love it. In Bali these days, land is at such a premium that most places can't afford so much space for greenery.

Stayed at hyatt for 6 nights. Really great resort and loved it still had that old bali charm. Much better than the modern uber euro resorts that pollute the natural charm of Bali

Yeah it's old school Bali brought into the 21st century. It's really hard to do and get right. But the Hyatt does it really well.

There are plenty in that price range and I will try and get some up in the next few months in that range. Swastika Bungalows and Swiss-bel seem to be favourites that commenters often mention.

In my opinion it depends on how much money you have. My favourite part of Sanur is in the suburban south on the east side of the bypass. It’s expensive. Aside from that, anywhere Westside of the bypass is good if you have transport. Just don’t go so far as Renon unless you’re trying to save money or want something big.

What a great honest video. Hopefully people will appreciate you letting us into your life in Bali. I believe you are spot on with your assessment of the now in Bali. The cost of living has risen all over the world, some more than others, and regardless of what we are paying, the most important factor is your happiness and it’s with in your budget. Thanks for sharing 🍻

What kind of visa did you get? Maybe do a vlog on the visa situation
@SanurDiaries6 күн бұрын
I’ve thought a lot about doing videos on the visa situation, but the problem is that it’s really specific to each individual and I’m only knowledgeable about the visa I’m on. I’m married to an Indonesian so it makes things relatively easy. I have friends who are in various different visas and I might ask them what visas they’re on and perhaps do some videos on that. I’ve got a bit of research to do first though.

Bali accomodation is expensive to live as an expat compared to other places in South East Asia like Thailand and Vietnam
@SanurDiaries6 күн бұрын
Yeah I agree with that. I also think the quality in Thailand is better than in Indonesia. That said, if you look outside of Bali there are many cheap places in Indonesia to live… you just might not want to live there 🤣
@steveth10004 күн бұрын
Danang, in Vietnam is a lot cheaper and a great place to live but they don't offer retirement visas. At least Bali offers retirees a nice welcome.
@jimmymc100217 күн бұрын
Thank you and I think that house is great value. I'm guessing you're on the other side of the bypass not the beach side. We started looking a bit too late and seem to have missed the boat on affordable rentals!......maybe next year. Thank you again for the content.
@SanurDiaries6 күн бұрын
You are correct. Beachside is very expensive for what you get and prices there have risen dramatically over the past few years. Things Westside haven’t really had the same boom, but they’re still not cheap. There is still plenty of vacant land within 5 minutes bike ride of the beach meaning it should be possible to find decent value if you’re patient, have your eyes peeled and strike when an opportunity comes up.

Wow! Thanks for letting us see a glimpse of your humble abode!! Can you elaborate further on your circumstance, thought process and decisions on why and how you ended up long-term in bali (vs simply holidaying, i meant). Can you do a KZbin clip on the best Nasi Goreng in Sanur? I was in Sanur in 1988 and recall exceptional Nasi Goreng’s with fried rice, a chicken Maryland, fried egg and a prawn cracker! The satay sauce was memorable. Can you do some research ❤️?
@SanurDiaries6 күн бұрын
I’m always researching new things and as I eat different foods, they all go in the back pocket to be used in future videos. As for the best nasi goreng in Sanur, I think that is going to be a tough one unless a friend recommends one in particular. I suppose I could ask viewers to submit their favourites and I could go and film them all.

I would need a garden to feel zen but each to their own
@SanurDiaries7 күн бұрын
Yeah not too difficult to find a place with a garden. The problem with gardens and pools is that they take up space and space is at such a premium that you pay a lot for it. If I build my own place, I’ll definitely have space for a decent garden with lots of greenery. Not so much a lawn though.

Cheers Adam, great deal of info in this video and your honesty around short term v long term and size and location are much appreciated
@SanurDiaries7 күн бұрын
No worries. Glad you found it useful. I’m thinking of doing something along these lines semi-regularly so people can keep up to date with current living costs in Bali.
@karlrockdrain17 күн бұрын
Your idea has real merit. We are not yet ready to move up to Sanur full time, but I keep hearing that costs are rising a lot due to the amount of expats from around the world who are moving to Bali either full time or are able to work remotely from there. There is only so much supply and demand seems more than supply currently
@SanurDiaries7 күн бұрын
Yeah that does seem to be the case. I think it's still possible to get cheap places closer to Renon, but I guess it depends on what the reasons are for moving to Bali. You can also get cheap places quite far north of Sanur... there's not much in the way of restaurants and infrastructure, but you can still find your own slice of paradise. Depends on your budget I guess.

Classic when you said don't know what type of meat this is but it's delicious! Probably something many travellers to Indonesia have thought before. And yes we love emping. Such a unique taste that becomes addictive. Have you tried kerupuk kulit sapi? A little hard to find in Bali but often can be located at Padang restaurants. Great job with the blog again 👏
@SanurDiaries13 күн бұрын
Yes I have had kerupuk kulit sapi. Susan is a kerupuk lover, so I’ve had quite a few different types over the years. I really like kerupuk tahu which I think I’ve seen in Bali before. They’re the ones that are a half sphere shape. I honestly think Indonesian food has the perhaps the largest imbalance in the world between how much there is explore and how little is known about it. You can travel around for years exploring new food and still not get bored!
