@@tuberaddict2000 And with those people id argue Jack did a better job showing off our culture, lives and passion more than anything Marvel or modern stuff has. This film has me screaming and hoping to see Blue Demon, El Santo, and Mil Mascaras make an appearance. I know they wont but that passion is there. That real feel is there. And the fact this was based off a real person adds that much more to it. Id argue for Jack and this movie any day of the week.

This final fight is what makes this movie so memorable. Yeah of course it’s funny but the movie’s memorable foundation lies in the heart of the message. Nacho at first fights for vanity but slowly realizes that through his success he can glorify God by giving the orphans a better life. Jesus was all about love and sacrifice. As soon as Nacho realizes that his passion can serve the orphans, he gets his first win. Throughout the whole movie he struggles in figuring this out but in the end he finally gets it. In the end of all of it, he says “we did it” instead “I did it”. This shows his growth and further demonstrates that a real purpose lies in your ability to serve the people that you love.

@@HadrianCustodes As a Christian myself, the key message of the film ("How do we reconcile the passions and desires God gives us with the rules and laws of religion") touches me very personally. I tear up a little when I think about how God made me and gave me my gifts & passions to use for his glory. That being true to myself and being righteous in his eyes are not opposed to each other, but that being the truest version of myself is actually honoring the way he designed me.

Nacho Libre is the greatest Christian film ever. The whole film is this one guy trying to justify his want for the glory and fame of wrestling through giving a bit of winnings to the orphanage - it's only in this scene, when after being humiliated by having himself unmasked, on the brink of being a loser, having lost his priesthood and about to lose, he is ready to give up - and then he sees the orphans and realises, he doesn't need pagan magic or fancy clothes to win. He just needs a reason to fight for a good cause. And in that moment he wins, and finds the "power of the eagle" to miraculous defeat Ramses (literally named after the slaver of Moses' people) and win knowing he does it for them and not himself. It's the perfect modern day story of the Holy Spirit doing miracles through people who themselves imperfect learn how to be selfless. Undoubtedly a massively underrated film.

Imagine the backstory of this fight. Last minute, Silencio, a relatively famous wrestler, drops out and Nacho, a famous but relatively unskilled fighter with a losing record, steps in and takes his place. I imagine people everywhere had him slated to lose this fight. Nacho had everything going against him. He lost his home, his friends, his dignity. He had already resigned his fate to death. Then he gets another opportunity to come back and regain his honor after losing everything. He had a heart unlike many other famous wrestlers. He had a larger purpose to come back and fight. Then in his last moments, God brings light to his life again after showing that Encarnacion and the kids had never lost faith in him. That alone gave him the strength to win.

This is such a feel good film. Jack Black is perfection in it. The music is stunning. Underappreciated in my opinion.

I like the little details with this ending. When it's Nacho being full of himself when he gets an upper hand he's immediately knocked back down loosing. But once he sees the kids he sees the sister there, he's reminded why he's doing this. That's when he gains the strength to comeback. And to defeat Ramses with a crucifix pin of all things, chefs kiss.

Nacho was loosing when he was fighting for the money. He became driven by the fame and money. He was using his earnings on “nice lotions and fancy clothes”, but once he realized that his god given gift was not to be used for fame, but instead to help better the lives of the Orphans, he became an unstoppable force.
