The Balkan countries need to unite. That's not possible for the moment, because we have not grown as nations that much yet, so we are still divided based on history, politics and more even though we are very much alike. I hope that the time will come, because if we don't unite we'll be an easy target for the powerful countries.

But an union purely between balkan states would be a nightmare, each country is made up by expert thieves and corrupt officials ripping off their people, the only progress made would be inventing new tactics for stealing from their people and their country until it collapses.

Well geographically Greece is tricky. Mainland Greece is part of the Balkans region. Crete and all the islands are nit considered part of the peninsula thought. The country even owns the small island of Kastelorizo, which georgaphically is part of Asia. So Greece is at the same time part of South Europe, Eastern Europe, West Europe (Ionian islands), Balkan peninsula, and a little bit of Asia. A clear mess

@@blackbox1024 There was not real bailing. The bailing was for French and German Banks which would loose. There are independent economists which concluded this with numbers. It's 100% sure. We pay our mistakes, but no one really helped us, this is an illusion. You helped the bank's. Greeks really suffering then and now.

@@PAULME_CH The population always ends up with the bill not just in Greece but anywhere else it's the same. The issue is nationalism is a fake artificial illusion. People need to cooperate as humans and do their job properly without short-cuts or corruption. Truth be told Greece did a huge mistake which almost bankrupted it and it shouldn't have been made in the first place, you can't blame the EU for that.

Greek's population outside Greece is bigger than the actual population in Greece and the story that tells is that pretty much every single family is relying on some financial help from overseas. Romanians abroad are over 12 million and also send huge amounts of money in Romania. The buying power of the minimum salary wage would be a most accurate analysis, in my view.

Romania isn't stopping anytime soon and by far they're the most advanced country in balkan and technologically speaking they're at least the 4th country in Europe and will become 3rd very soon. Serbia will not even achieve half of Romania's success in the next 30 years, let alone surpassing them.

YU was trying to have balanced development with as much independence of states as possible. every state at least one steel mill, and all parts of oil industry, such as oil refinery, petrochemical company... Almost all states were producers of cars, or some parts. that would be assembled in other state. As far as I know, every city had large factories, acording to citie population that provided jobs and living income to it's citisens.

That just can't be true. In normal conditions, the country with the most citizens will have the highest GDP so Romania's place in the Balkans is here to stay. As for the €/capita, that's a different story.

But per capita Slovenia would come first. These GDP figures don't look at population. It is no sence comparing India with for example Slovenia as one of the countries have population of 1.5 billions while other has only 2 millions. That's why we measure it GDP per capita.
