Everything in Bulgaria got out of wack in 89 and then 94 there was currency devaluation which was pretty strong, for the rest corruption all the way to hinder real development and somehow the economy grows with 2-4% each year. Growth as a percent most of the time is very good for the EU. But wont be any leader in the near future, neither as base resources, nor culturally I think is in the right place to strive for it, only if Bulgaria starts to do something that only can be done in Bulgaria at large quantities but I dont think there is such thing or there is a better place.

Turkey is partially considered part of the Balkan region, specifically the European part known as East Thrace. This small portion of Turkey, located west of the Bosporus Strait, includes cities like Istanbul (on its European side), Edirne, and Tekirdağ. However, the majority of Turkey's landmass lies in Asia, in a region called Anatolia. Because of this, Turkey is often not fully included in discussions about the Balkans. Instead, it's recognized as a transcontinental country that bridges both Europe and Asia. So, while East Thrace is geographically and historically part of the Balkans, the rest of Turkey is not.

@Simon-o4hАй бұрын
@@nedimramic9001The name Balkans is actually a young name. It only came into effect after the Berlin Congress of 1878. Previously, this area was called European Turkey. After the Berlin Congress, when the independent states of Serbia, Romania, Montenegro and the autonomy of Bulgaria were created, the name European Turkey is no longer relevant. They use the shorter name Balkans, which is a mistake. Where is the (western) border of the Balkans? There have been countless debates about where the geographical border of the Balkans is. According to one interpretation, the mainland part of the peninsula's border is discovered by simply drawing a straight line between Odessa on the Black Sea and Trieste on the Adriatic. Many more geographers support the opinion that the border runs along the rivers. Until the end of the First World War, the prevailing opinion of Austrian geographers was that the border of the peninsula runs along the Danube to the mouth of the Sava, then along the Sava to the mouth of the Kolpa, along the Kolpa, and finally descends in a straight line to the River. Therefore, the territory of Slovenia was not included in the Balkan Peninsula. Later after the end of first world War Mostly Serbs and Serbs tried to set the borders as far west as possible. In the case of the Balkans, it is primarily a cultural designation, geographically it is hard to "find" the peninsula

Good comparison, but it has quite a few errors, which probably do not depend on the author. Bulgaria's GDP in the 80s is just a fake communist statistic. Reality hit them in the 90s. PPP data is always questionable. On a global scale. This is the tendency of underdeveloped and poor countries to statistically present themselves as better than they really are. Croatia, for example, has a big jump between nominal and PPP GDP. Croatian buyers regularly shop at Slovenian stores, because everything is cheaper in Slovenia. If you visit Croatia as a tourist, you immediately notice these price differences, and I don't mean just tourist places. If you have one foot in boiling water and the other in Arctic ice, you are statistically doing well.

No other other country has placed a language of a minority on the same level as the language of the main ethnicity of the country. We do not have a problem with the native Albanians. The problem lies with the 350k Kosovo refugees we saved in 1999. They came into the country as refugees and started a war 2 years later started a war. After everything this country has given them they still hold anti Macedonian stances. The low GDP is due to criminality and money washing, which again, is mostly done by the Albanian Mafia.
@StrabishBylac4 ай бұрын
@@mark1232546 Macedonia's problems are due precisely to what I wrote, if it were up to the Albanians mafia, Albania should be worse. The Serbian minority in Kosovo will most likely have autonomy and represents only 3% of the population, the Albanians do not yet have this in Macedonia. Macedonia discriminates against cities and places with an Albanian majority, this is not a secret, in fact anyone notices it

Dobrogea(in Romanian), Dobruja in English, is in the Balkan Peninsula in it's entirety. So geographically Romania has a part located in the Balkan Peninsula. Historically, both Walachia and Moldova were part of the Otoman Empire for more than 400 years like the rest of the Balkan Peninsula. Transylvania, Hungary and the Republic of Moldova, along with the regions of Odessa and Czernowitz were in the Otoman Empire for less than a century. Yet, the influence remains, in cuisine, phrases and expressions, mentality(customs and holidays).
