I remember in 4th grade 4 of us were annoyed with the stagnancy of the current foursquare ruleset so we got a ball and went to the lower playground and came up with a bunch of out-there rules like double bounces and cherry bombs and no-bounce catches and terminators (borrowed from handball) and it was hella fun and then everyone from the upper playground found out and came down to the lower playground and all of a sudden there were lines to the game we invented so we gave up and went back up to the normal, upper playground square which was now unoccupied and played some old school vanilla foursquare thank you for coming to my ted talk

In primary, my school had a long concrete area that we ended up playing crazy 16-20 square games. The squares weren't small either. It resulted in the ace square (our name for the no.1 square that gets to serve every time) throwing the ball as hard as they could in their square in an attempt to get it as far as they could down the pitch. Crazy times. P.s. the area was only 2 squares wide
