Rebuilding ball joints for late model 944 Turbo with aluminum control arms using a Rennbay kit. This is how to rebuild the aluminum control arm ball joints on a Porsche 944 Turbo. I'd recommend the kit with the solid brass bushings, they will protect the aluminum better than the plastic bushings.
I will repair your control arms with the kit of your choosing for $119 including return shipping in the States (international shipping will be more). You supply the kit, which can be found with the link above. Please send me a message if interested.

When I removed the retaining clip, mine shot directly into my overhead lamp with a lot of force! It shattered the fluorescent bulb. I was surprised when I watched you take yours out so gingerly with no event.

lol. That sucks about the light. I think my screwdriver stopped the metal cover and spring from flying. The retaining clip flew though, and probably would have broken a light if it hit one.

yea the clip that holds the plate on is a bit worry-some. i probably used a long pipe on the end of a socket wrench as a breaker bar. some of those bolts have loctite on them, i dont remember which ones though lol.

Thanks for the video. I am going to have to try this job myself, I can't find any shops who know what they are doing. I got what appears to be the same kit you showed on the video. Do I have to remove the control arms from the car? Or can it still be done with the arms attached? Thanks.

Nice work, I did the same job recently, bronze bushings, pretty fun and rewarding job and moneywise it beats paying out the ass for a set of new control arms

Good vid! Thinking about picking a 944 up. Any suggestions on what to watch out for when looking at one in person?

+Alexander Chavez Thanks! Pretty much all maintenance items, if you can lift the car, ball joints, tie rods, bearings, fluid leaks. Brake fluid color. Look for cracking on the coolant tank. Check if the fuel lines are original or if they're new. Original ones are dangerous and should be replaced asap. Find out when the timing belt was done, it's supposed to be changed every 2 years or 30,000 miles. Look for a rust hole in the battery box. Dash cracking is normal. Search for an option list online, print it out, and compare it to the sticker in the trunk near the spare tire, to see what options it has or should have. Check the rockers carefully for hidden rust. If the car was ever repainted they could have damaged the galvanization. The body was galvanized from factory and they pretty much do not rust if that treatment is preserved. That's all I can really think of right now lol

im pretty sure the non turbo cars have regular press in ball joints....much easier and much cheaper to replace

yes actually, i can't do that immediately but at some point i can. for now get a 17mm hex socket for a 1/2" ratchet.

mix while you use, i mixed it right on the plate but didn't show that in the video...directions will be on the glue bottle.

ok, i was under the inpression that all the cars with the aluminum control arms had that type of ball joint like the one you rebuilt. will have to look at the car closer and see what it actually has

damn, well i wont hit 6000 for a while, my slave cylinder blew and now that i rebuilt it i have to flush the hydraulic system. i just dont have the time for it right now
