Nice job, and very generous of you and the others to donate your time, materials, and expertise to help a young one get started out right. I hope they pay it forward when they've gotten some experience too. -- Mike

Just as people find old tools today I can see someone finding this 100 years from now, giving it a good clean and using it or maybe donating to a museum showing the history of how it was made. I'm sure someone will be pretty excited to have one of your balls in their hand. Beautiful colouring and finish.

Hi doubleboost , I think you should be applauded as the others are who are offering their time and skill to make something towards his box giveaways . I see you have a nice backdrop come splash and rubbing chafe collector at the back of your lathe, really good idea.

very nice. Just a suggestion, you should cut a slot at the back end of the adjusting screw of the boring head so you can access it from the top with a flat screwdriver. My first thought was to say to use the hole at the other end so the allen head sits on top but then I noticed it only has a center hole and at one side (mine has center and both sides).

Really nice job, which is complicated by the 5 or 6 people or more making the various parts to this vice, OK if like you this is the final grind but there’s a lot to think about, well done to you and all. I know in one of the last WIYB’s a person from the UK where I live was the lucky recipient of a box, or to be more correct many individual ones that made up the whole wonderful gift from knowledgeable Engineers and Part time and Professional Machinists. I hope they realise just how much work went into their many separate pieces! I have said it before, - I wonder if Keith realised what a many headed snake these WIYB would become, though it spreads the knowledgeable camaraderie of the many people kind enough to make the many parts of maybe even more finished machinists tools with some becoming absolutely indispensable and are for continued use?! Thanks for the completed item and for the upload of your work. Take care mrbluenun

Hi John. That looks great. I hope someone really deserving gets it in their toolbox. Just one query, I thought the American 3/8 x16 thread was not whitworth 55 degree form but a UNC 60 degree thread form. Please correct me if I am wrong.Best wishes to Debs and I hope she enjoys her holiday. ATB Gary
