It is the last weekend in May of 2022 and Ballarat has turned on cold but acceptable weather for its first Heritage Festival since 2019. Covid Restrictions are almost forgotten now as Railfans and the general public gather in as many places as possible to watch 100+ year old steam locomotives strut their stuff on the mainline between Ballarat and Lal Lal, about 16 kms south east of Ballarat. This year we see 130+ year old 0-6-0 Y112 on the Ballarat end of the Steamrail train, with 100 year old K153 done up in original style as scrapped sister K100.
Over the course of the weekend we see the steam shuttles in various places, details of which are given on the screen.
On the Sunday night after the festival has ended, we see A2 986 (not used during the weekend) and K100 double-head the now built up train for a return to Melbourne via Ballan, Bacchus Marsh, and Melton. Later that night aging Y112 slowly makes its way out of Ballarat on its way to Geelong for further attention, and eventual return to Newport some days later.
I hope you, my valued viewer, enjoys this look at Australian steam. There are many more videos of trains, buses, trams, ferries, aircraft, and the odd ship on my channel, so please take a look.
