Lewis, I learnt a lesson tonight. As I got worried about spraying water on metal once I'd ballasted I attempted to clean the rails and of course cus the track was only glued down with PVA aswell it decided to pop up. Still, got there in the end and I wouldn't have ever attempted it if it weren't for your videos. Thanks 👍

@@MouldyRaspberry I'm basing on polystyrene which was a bit of a test to see if gives good sound deadening... It doesn't... :) I'm probably going to go to a full board of insulation foam, to make it easier to lift about. This was just a tiny tester to try a few techniques. I've just this minute finished a cardboard kit from super quick, first ever... But cheap and I needed a bridge. Not sure weathering cardboard will work well mind you. Hope you are ok.

Not everyone can naturally make things look so realistic without overdoing it, or paint background scenery like this with wide and easy strokes, choosing colours and shades to look so good. That's really beautiful. When you were painting the backdrop, it made me think of the late, great, Bob Ross, for a moment. I love watching other peoples' model railways because there's no way I can have one, for two fairly good reasons: (i) I haven't the room; (ii) Even if I did, there's a small child in my household who has not yet grasped the concept of looking, not touching. So I'm happy to be fascinated and delighted watching your videos. Thank you!

@@MouldyRaspberry One possible idea : a painted or drawned false perspective tunnel exit, maybe with a combination of forced perspective and low relief to get a 3D effect. I have the idea of a half conical-shaped like bricked wall to simulate the whole tunnel lenght and paint an half-size, or smaller, tunnel exit at the centre to simulate the whole lenght of the work. I think you can simulate a 200/300m tunnel on a setting as shallow as 5 to 10 cm this way. Something to try...
