I think I can reconize the airfield where he is landing at the end because it's the place where I did my first flight :) So this flight is made around the airfied "La Motte du Caire" in France, you can compare it with Google Earth :)

Gorgeous video. Really beautiful. However it is surely not legal on VFR Rules. You may have not seen any police there but there are a lot of us that fly IFR in the clouds thinking that only known traffic is on that area. If you have not a transponder you are putting your life and other people life in danger since there would not be time to avoid a midair collision. This is the reason it is not legal.

It's been 4 years since you left this comment, I know. I just want to ask you whether you still alive and if you still fly IFR below the level of mountains, in the mountains? Any wave flights are not only ATC approved, but also take place in airspace sectors closed to any sorts of traffic except gliders performing wave flights there. It's not like glider pilots just glide up to 18K at will on VFR rules.

You said it....lots of folks flying in cloud not expecting gliders... time to read the list of permitted activities ! I have remarked to a flight instructor that we heard him fly past while he was practising instrument let downs to a beacon... he didn't know either, and went a funny colour.. !!!
