That’s not true in any way. It just doesn’t *have* to be soft and blended if you aren’t being broadcasted/recorded/displayed on an overhead screen. Plenty of stage makeup is better applied that this is. She’s just not a makeup artist. Just because you do something as part of your job doesn’t mean you specialize in that action.

Almost nobody gets a makeup artist to do their stage makeup. So yes, this is how it's suppose to be. It's meant to be sharp and dark so that it's easily seen.

I had the chance to see Isabella Boylston in Swan Lake at the American Ballet Theatre a couple of weeks back and absolutely loved it!! I have seen multiple renditions, however, this one was my favorite, and Isabella Boylston's incredible portrayal of Odette/Odille were a large reason why.
