Maria, you are such a wonderful role model for young students ! You give them solid and healthy advice in so many areas of ballet study! Thank you for sharing with us all! I am 71 years old and love classical music and ballet but am not a formally trained dancer. I train at the barre, stretch, Pilates, it most importantly, move to the music! I dance in my dreams!❤

A stage performance is precisely THE ultimate quality test for a make up product. Pay off, everything-proof, longevity. Any other factor, as you said, just a guilty pleasure. 🧛🏻♀️🖤

Quiteria is the name of the caracter in the original text, it comes from the greek Kytheria, "the red one" and it is maybe a name given to Aphrodite cause this is the Island where this godess was born from the ocean.
@aeternumusik Жыл бұрын
The original name in Cervantes novel certainly is Quiteria. The other original names are Basilio, Camacho, Don Quijote and Sancho Panza.

Astonishing transformation! I thought there's a team that do the make up for an actors like in the movies. But you have your own magical "moon prism". Bronze halftones on face was really nice and a few dinamical frames from performance on stage itself has made me excited. The whole impression from this vid is like the scenery at the day time gradualy changing from early morning in to the midday! Bravo! Ancore!

Magical transformation. Costuming for Kitri must have a lot to do with getting into her chatacter, maybe more than other roles? She's so Latin fiery, so confident, so uplifting to watch. You did a wonderful job becoming Kitri, exactly as I picture her. And the tutorial was fun as well!

The name Kitri is an adaptation of Quiteria, which is that of the character in the novel, in the same way that Gamache is of Camacho. The chapter Las Bodas de Camacho, which appears in the second part of Don Quijote, deals with the wedding of the rich farmer Camacho, this being the passage that inspired Petipa to compose the ballet.

Loved this tutorial so useful as I'm terrible at stage make up especially eyelashes as my hands shake from nerves. Agree you don't need to use premium brands - every day ones do the job just fine. You look just gorgeous in this video pre, during and post transformation.

Kitri and Swanhilda are two roles that come to my mind where the female leads seem so liberated and comfortable with themselves. As a non-dancer who is just a fan of ballet, these two are especially fun to watch. Kitri is especially a show-off and proud of it; that girl will never apologize for being awesome. Swanhilda seems more low-key but capable of surprises too, though I feel there's a touch of insecurity in her. Kitri, on the other hand, if you don't appreciate her than YOU'RE the problem lolol love them both. Great transformation! It's always fascinating how differently you have to think about makeup when you're putting it on for the stage. A lot of it isn't so intuitive because what you see directly in the mirror isn't the effect that the audience sees.

I did enjoy your stage makeup and your reasoning on the products that you chose. For example, I would think you'd have a long wearing lipstick but by using a liner and moisturizing lip combo, and the fact that dancing is a workout in general, that you're breathing heavily. With the amount of breathing, of course it will dry out your lips, so you need something moisturizing.
@mariannestoffers5067 Жыл бұрын
This goes interesting because we were long-going lipsticks in our routines which were a bit like cheap, but for rehearsals we wanted more lipsticks (which were difficult to buy even on own salary). May I talk from my salad that for piano classes I went with black and blue nail polish which was cost only 3 € by that time?

From some movie or tv show they would put vaseline on their teeth before a performance to make it easier to keep smiling. I think they had the same lips stuck to teeth situation so it may be useful.
