I'm actually glad that they chose Katie. Although she may not have the best technical skills, her movements and limbs are so flowing, it has this catchy factor to it that I can't really describe. She reminds me of a tall, elegant willow swaying in the wind. I think they did the right choice.

She is built to dance yes but I think they picked her for that reason and not her technical abilities. You could see the difference between the two and in my mind they flubbed in who they picked although Kate will grow and get better and getting that part will boost her confidence and give her a drive to practice her toes off

I'm really glad they're not making this overly dramatic -- well, the editing with Harrison was a bit dramatic, but it's nothing like Dance Moms or any other reality dance show on nowadays. And thank the lord they're focusing on the dancing, not some drama with a relationship or people hating each other -- they're all there for a reason: to dance, so that's what the show should be about, imo.

Katie definitely looked better than Lauren. Lauren's attitude and speaking abilities aren't very poised and that translate to her dancing as well. She may be older but she needs to be more disciplined. 80% of the issues with the boys are the size differences. Some of the girls in this group are taller than average and the guys are shorter than average for a guy in general and especially a dancer. The standard difference for dance partnering is 6 inches. If a girl is 5'7, you need a guy who is at least 6'1 to partner her. The issue gets really complex when you have dances where the girls where heels because you go by the height they are, so if a 5'7 girl has to wear 2 inch heels for a dance, she becomes 5'9, so you need a guy who is at least 6'3 to partner her.

Lauren had a fierce component to her movement with correct execution. Katie had a soft appeal with less maturity. Depending on the story, I feel Lauren would have been a fighter and would question fate itself and Katie would've been accepting and give out all she had before she let go. I know Lauren will have a solo later on. She is too good not too.

Great choice! As talented as both girls are, Lauren just simply doesnt have the relatability factor likely needed to hook an audience . Technically she might be more fine tuned however, who goes to a Ballet to see a robot?

Kristin Gilbert Funny, that's kind of how I felt about Lauren. She's almost a bit _too_ sure of herself, her movements are a bit robotic... whereas Kate's dance is more honest and vibrant, despite her inferior technique. I think they made the right choice.

It depends on how much you practice. Some people who go into dance when they're a bit older, in their teens, might be able to get to that standard within a few years. It also depends on the teacher and how much the person wants to get to that standard.

Being a dancer this terrifies me. This is why I would never be able to become a professional dancer because I have allot of trouble memorizing choreography quickly or learning quick movements which is why I tend to do MUCH better in Contemporary. You can ask me to invent a whole dance to a song I know ( Edit: Invent on the spot, improvise ) and it'll turn out amazing, but ask me to learn a whole choreography in 2 weeks it will honestly just end in disaster.

Wow I think they didn't make the best choice in who they picked for that solo .i do think gracious congratulations should always be given no matter how hurt and disappointed you are in nothing getting that solo. Use that feeling to make sure you put with into that next time so you get that part. Feel the young girl needs more work on parteners and growing a bit but wish her luck in making this part beautiful
