I grew up in ballet, and it warms my heart to see a teacher giving a correction with respect. Emotional abuse is so common in the ballet world, so thanks for showing these students what it should be like to receive a correction in class.

His corrections were perfect. Teaching her NOT to toss herself around and rely on momentum will prevent many injuries Edit: Hypermobility is actually very common, but for dancers can be very dangerous long term. Because we are more flexible in our joints, we don't rely so much on core strength and muscles, which causes micro injuries.

I can tell he’s well liked and the students really want to impress him, not for fear of public correction, but for their own initiative. Well done, ladies! Especially the girl being corrected; it’s always hard to be the first one corrected, as the others have the benefit of watching how to do it properly, while she only has to be corrected in front of everyone. I see they’re all eagerly paying attention. ❤

With all the horrible things in the news it’s so refreshing seeing a male teacher showing so much respect to his female students. You can tell when he corrected her she didn’t flinch in the slightest which shows she has not an ounce of fear. And all the other girls watching so intensely really shows how much they respect their teacher as well as their fellow students. I know how competitive ballet is and usually your classmates give the stink eye when you do something well and the instructor shows you attention. All the girls looked completely supportive of her.

@normamimosa5991
@normamimosa5991 Жыл бұрын
He didn't just use his hand. He moved her body into the right position. That is what ballet teachers should do. In the West today, students are on a tear about touching. Ridiculous trend in ballet. These kids want to be dancers. If they are in a good academy, they should already be learning partnering (pas de deux). Couldn't get much more intimate than that between boy/girl, men/women (without sex). So students who want to be dancers should start being realistic and put touching into perspective.

He’s a GREAT dance teacher, because during my 7 years of dance experience, I quit dance because I suddenly lost the motivation to dance. I didn’t know why, because I loved dancing, but it didn’t feel like I loved it. I realized it was because how my teachers acted towards me when I mess up. I started messing up more often because I get so tense when we go across the floor for warm ups. Everyone was just staring at me REAL hard, especially my teachers. I struggled with anxiety so it didn’t end out well, they would criticize me in front of everyone and when I would mess up again they straight out yelling at me. I held in my tears so I wouldn’t cause more problems. I still love dancing to this day, and maybe I can have another chance of trying again.

I was taught that the sides must be straight and the hips squared off, if our body couldn't do that and get the leg up high we weren't allowed to put our leg up high. I see so many youngsters just want to get their legs as high as possible without thinking about the alignment of the body and it's kinda frustrating to me, so glad this instructor is fixing this (the girl looks a little embarrassed though, lol)

Yeah same at first when I saw the hip up so high I was really confused why they were teaching her like that. I'm not trying to hate it's just my dance class is very VERY much about precision and technique, and I noticed a few things that she was doing wrong that my dance teachers are very prompt about for example her fingers were sticking up in her 3rd position hand that was up, and her foot was sickled with her leg not turned out when she came down and pointed her foot out.

If you do a sport or an art where you need another human to support you, like dance or gymnastics, then touching a student like this is not only common but the safe way to teach. You can point from a distance, but like in this instance, the student couldn't feel the difference for herself until he pushed the right part of her body into place. Often the teacher is helping a student do a skill they are not physically capable of alone yet, so they know how it feels to do it correctly. Whether that's moving a leg higher than they have the strength to support or holding someone through a backend they can't land yet, a good teacher/coach is going to be hands on because it's dangerous otherwise. It's not weird or creepy unless the touches are unprofessional, unnecessary, or inappropriate. I would also be startled if someone touched me like that, because I never did a sport like this. But you have to have some level of reasonableness.

This was a PERFECT demonstration of how IMPORTANT proper ballet training is in children when they are this young! The slightest shift and INSISTENCE from her ballet master to correct her framing and muscular development can prevent her from years of pain later in life! This shows just how dramatic that tiny shift can be and how easily poor training and lazy teachers allowing bad habits to root in can completely ruin this child’s potential and ultimately…her dreams! It’s THAT important! So if anyone is wondering ??? That is why he takes these corrections so seriously and makes sure SHE DOES TOO! Love this academy! There are ballet teachers that make you feel like a dirt spot on the floor. There are those that help you get better. And there are great teachers, that help you and make you feel like you're a prima ballerina while simply doing pliés at the barre. I have been fortunate enough to attend 4 master classes with Wayne Byars, an awesome, world renowned teacher, and he is absolutely the best teacher I have ever taken lessons with, besides being a very kind and inspiring person. Lovely correction of spinal alignment and a more controlled tombe. So fun to watch such promising dancers take well given correction.

This is why ballet is difficult. It isnt the major moves but the finer details that make mastery a challenege

Wtf? Look at her iliac crests😳. She has such a crazy ratio short torso-long legs 😍. Not to talk about her extension and how her brain is on fire to keep control, process the correction give the order to the rib cage. His _He-he!! Not fall!!_ 😅 simply lovely 🖤.

Fui a ballet por unos cuantos años, tuve profesores hombre y mujeres, los dos tocaban igual al corregir pero se seguía sintiendo incómodo jajajshsh

totally should label this as “form” too, it’s not just technique, he’s teaching far more than that.

I also think this is a correction of form and not technique, but I guess that doesn't matter so much in this context - just a youtube clip for the masses.

i ride horses, and whenever my instructor is correcting me or someone else, they don’t say everything that is wrong. that way, it’s not overwhelming and you can think properly about the biggest issues. the biggest issue here was her waist dropping, not her fingers.
