It's so interesting to know the steam method (at 10:04). For skating, there is a similar heat molding process when buying new skates. The shop will use some machine to heat the new skates, then the skater will wear them for 5 min or so to make the skates fit perfect to the foot.

Dreaming of the day I can get into pointe! As an adult learner, I have a long way to go, but this video was so informative and calming!

I would love a sewing video. I don’t dance but really love ballet. I’m not very well at the moment and sewing videos don’t take much concentration to watch and you have a calming voice xxx

I thought that at this point(e) I had heard every different break-in method out there... but the steam! that makes so much sense, and yet I have never heard of that. Definitely trying that one. Thanks!

Thank you Isabella! This very informative video explains perfectly what I have witnessed my ballerina friend doing recently, just as you described. I think it was when she started banging her shoes violently on her porch steps I had to seek answers from BWI! 😂😂❤❤Definitely a follow-up video on ribbon sewing technique would be equally welcomed. Thanks again.

I would like to see a video on the sewing process. I was also wondering how tall you were and did you have any challenges related to your height when learning ballet?

How long did your shoes last when you were dancing professionally/ at Vaganova? 🥰
@balletwithisabellaАй бұрын
About 2 weeks. Mainly because I circulated 3-4 pairs at once x

I've never heard of the steam method before! It seems like it would help tremendously to reduce blisters. It does kind of scare me though, I'd be worried about breaking down the glue instead of just reconstituting and resetting it. I suppose that's why you just walk around while they're damp instead of doing relevés or other steps? Have you ever over-steamed them, or am I just paranoid? 😅

It’s not THAT much steam that it softens the shoes. It just warms them and dampens them so they dry more snuggly to your foot. I’ve never oover steamed them. Pointe shoes are tough things, a little moisture won’t break them down. You don’t want to do any pointe work when they are a little damp. It dries so quick you barely notice they had steam in there. To reassure you I’ve done this thousands of times and never once burned myself. Just be careful of course x

Yes ❤❤

Hi Isabella! Do you have a video or podcast episode about how to overcome the fear en pointe? I started to do pointe work as an adult and this is the biggest struggle for me, the mental part of it because otherwise I have the strength and technique to execute the steps but I'm always so afraid when I have to do something on one leg (e.g. sissone) or turning.

Hi Isabella! I’m an absolute beginner taking your 8 week plan. I got a pair of split sole canvas Capezio shoes. Is that a good choice or do you recommend something else? Thank you!

I have a couple of questions about the steaming. When you put them on after you’ve steamed them, how long do you need to walk around? You also said to dampen the vamp. Do you do that after the steaming and before you put the sock on? Thank you.
