Combinatuon of different factors. Garland has like seven different high schools for a relatively small area of DFW. Klein Forest is from Houston (4 hours away) and Klein has 5 different high schools for a relatively small area of Houston. Also, Duncanville and Guyer were playing at the same time across town. Which was #1 vs #2 in the state. Among other factors.

I was at this game court side and let me just say, the officiating in this game was STRAIGHT AWFUL, especially in the 1st half and it benefited KF way more than South Garland... Klein Forest didn't have anyone even remotely close to being individually as good as Maxey on their team, but they had 4 solid guys that played together and made up for the fact that their big man #13 (6'6'' Calvin Solomon), couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. That kid only scores around the basket and air balled multiple jump shots and even free throws in the 2nd half; if he made a jump shot it was pure luck... Basically, nobody on Klein Forest averaged more than 12ppg on the year, but they just were a very deep team. Meaning at any point, any one of like 4 guys could be their leading scorer; with South Garland you knew what you were getting... It's either Tyrese Maxey or Chris Harris Jr. creating about everything and the rest of the team getting the residual activity and playing defense and maybe scoring here and there... So basically, KF shut down Maxey by keeping a guy on him all game and packing the paint when he penetrated and if it wasn't for Chris Harris Jr. making a couple 3's at the beginning of the game, it would have been an even worse loss than it was. Bottom line, KF was the better team from beginning to end, but the officiating helped them out A LOT... Either way, they lost in the state final to Duncanville, a school South Garland demolished in their 1st game of the season... So sometimes it's the luck of the draw and what opponent you get.
