It's easy to forget that we all had to start somewhere by learning the basics. I well remember popping the first couple of foil balloons I tried to inflate with air years ago! So, I've made this quick tutorial to share some of my top tips for inflating foil balloons with air and hopefully this might help a few of you avoid some of the mistakes I made in my early days of experimenting with balloons! Look where it's ended up 😀

Hello! Just come across your video. I have purchased number foils from Amazon, but by around half an hour using the straw it comes with it deflates and goes floppy. Is this because the quality is not good? If I want to put the number onto a balloon column do I need to use a helium canister or can I do it with a manual pump like yours xx thank you

This could be happening for a number of reasons including the possibility that the valve is damaged. You can put air-filled foil balloons onto columns as I demonstrate in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6SuiIaBn8-IZsUsi=GK16BdN4-eJdNyCm

So this can be used on a display if attached to a back but it won’t stand on its own just from the hand pump, right? It needs helium to stand up?

Helium makes balloons float. This balloon is air-filled (which won't float) so you can attach it to a display such as a balloon arch or balloon wall. Alternatively, you can make a base out of latex balloons and attach the air-filled balloon to the base and it will stand upright - I've got quite a few number display videos on my channel showing how you can do this.

Having the balloon filled with air and not helium is what I'm going to do for our photoshoot for a young woman. I want her to hold the balloons for the photos and I'm also going to tape the balloons to the wall for the backdrop. I don't think I'll want helium. But I'm going to use an electric balloon pump, I don't want to be tired before the photoshoot even starts.
