I had the pleasure of meeting him when he came to California. We went to the after hour after the ball and we sat and talked. He gave me so much love and life advice. I will always remember the things he told me. I will always love this man.

Watching this video in 2021. Amazing. I hope all the people also look into these videos and not just the tik tok ballroom content. This is a lifestyle. I ain't even in the scene but best believe I'm doing what I gotta do to actually gain culturally competent insight.

Selvin you are a Legend and I am so proud of you. I am letting you know how great you are. I remember you from the 1980 Piers and yes we are still here. Remember how fierce the Piers were back then???? It was Ova, and so proud of you here since I just saw this Video. Remember Pendavis, Angie X, Octavia and the rest. How great was the Paradise Garage.

So profound. We can’t let the culture of Ballroom change. It’s about inclusivity and making a space for everyone. People look to ballroom for a home - don’t turn these kids away.

I really appreciate the candid, raw and simple honesty of what Selvin said. It's not all the time you have to "flower up" your language to convey a message and its importance. Werk Selvin

what makes me mad is that all these conference videos and vote or gag videos only have less than 500 views. but no shade to anyone, but a 24sec LSS cute dip and spin clip gets well over 5,000 views. I think that the 300 ppl tht viewed this video are actually ppl who aren't even in the scene. like me.

That epic speech Selvin gave spoke volumes on how ballroom has changed & how we settle for the change. I watch the clips here & i luv the new stuff but the old stuff i go off on too cause I just wish that I was in that 91' to 00' era to experience the LIFE they were getting. I'm a young boi & i want to join the scene but it scares me cause I have accomplished everything in my everyday life but I don't want me getting my ballroom life to screw that up. But great vid as always.

YES WHAT SELVIN SAID SPOKE VOLUMES OF YESTERYEAR AND TODAY FROM THE ICONS DOWN TO THE STARS ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE POEPLE IN THE KIK SCENE. WE HAVE TO FOCUS AND TEACH AS PARENTS OUR CHILDREN IF THEY GO DOWN THE WRONDG PATH AND BUILD THEM UP IN POSITIVE WAYS AS WELL IN EVERYDAY LIFES! AND I THANK U ( IN MY ASHLEY VOICE)

Hearing this makes me so proud of my nephew!!!!! Those days when he would want to listen to me and my friend Delsean talk about lessons and life he would push in to the convo in order to get the jewels(info). Selvin at a young age was a excellent communicator. He would have them ears open when adults was saying important and foolish things. lol ..This video shows Selvin was listening and got some of the Anderson Ave teachings. Happy New Year nephew!!!! I know Delsean would be proud!!

why is it that we care about a community that we aren't even apart of and not the ones who are at these balls. that's the problem. ppl only care about who's dip was the most fab. I actually enjoyed all these videos. I think that houses should assess ppl qualities and values b4 letting them walk. ballroom is cool in all, but a lot of ppl are joining for the wrong reasons. hell I think houses should make kids have meetings like this and teach them, just like a bible study

From my experience with going to and walking in a ball it more so about the judges favorites or sometimes if a person has a beef with another house the friend of that house will chop that person person just because of that beef even if the person deserves "s across. The first time I walked a ball for face this guy who had a boy friend that I knew tried to hook up with me and I told him I knew his boy friend so i declined the next day on a Sunday a friend invited me to my first ball told me to walk go to each judge and smile i did all the judges stood up with 10's in their hand expect for him he put up a 9 and smiled lol and one time I accidentally bumped into this guy dressed in drag thought i did on purpose even after i apologized was a judge at track at a mini ball and chopped me too. smh lmao i never walked a ball after that too funny.

just like someone said below, I would like to if not participate in a ball, at least go and watch one live or help or anything... but I sometimes feel I have way to much positive accomplishments in my life already and that ballroom would hold me back. if everyone in ballroom were like everyone in this panel, it would be OVAH. but shit if I ever do go to a ball, I'd be scared to talk or even look at ppl. I might get beat up or sumn.

What is the difference between a kiki and ballroom scene?
@rogerdavis552 жыл бұрын
I wanna know that too
@witchingbrew32 жыл бұрын
Heres the thing, ballroom has decorum and structure regardless. Where kiki maybe more free. Either way, theyre saying some code of conduct and regulations should be within both.

OK black versus white drugs: I don't understand the differentiation and seeming condoning?
@ThatGworl20233 жыл бұрын
Back in the day, some particular drugs were said to only have been done by white people and some particular drugs were said to only have been done by black people. It’s mainly what’s more available to the different people.
