This is a great video . I learnt to dance many years ago, and I've been competing, at a reasonable level for 15 years or so. I have ALWAYS had problems with my posture. Partly because of my job, also because of the racket sports I played when young. It is only in the last 6 months, with a bad neck problem, that my physio gave me an exercise to improve my neck and head alignment which magically has dramatically improved my posturea. My experiences have given me strong views about the teaching of dancing. These are.. 1) since posture is so important, it should be taught/worked on much sooner than it generally is 2) telling someone with poor posture to imagine, or feel, certain things, doesn't really work. I've never had a hook in the top of my head pulling me up to the ceiling. So how do i know how that feels?. I thought I had my three blocks of weight aligned, but clearly I didn't. What's needed is the sort of physical exercise that's shown in this video. The sitting on the chair exercise is excellent. The important thing is, this can be done any time, anywhere you can find a chair. My physio exercise is similar. I do it for 5 minutes at least 6 times every day. These sort of videos are great to improve everyone's dance quality, but its harder to teach good posture than telling people where their feet go. OK, my rant is over. If only I'd spoken to my physio 20 years ago!

Arunas Bizokas always looked so relaxed when he danced, never appearing to force the movement, that’s why he was always world champion.

I know Arunas, he’s a gentleman and world class dancer. Lots of respect for him and Katusha for the art they have created.

That's an awesome lesson it turns the body inside out as a fundamental struture.I mean something that is good from inside everyone to have when they start learning to dance. You are not only dance Instructor but also a DOCTOR. Thank you master Vaugh.

Thanks so much! My posture has always been poor, and I would try to correct it while dancing by lifting my chest and forcing my shoulders back. This created a lot of tension because my pelvis was still in the wrong position, and the tension made my dancing look stiff and jerky. I’ve been practicing getting my pelvis correct for a week in my every day activities and i find that if my pelvis is correct, my chest, shoulders, and head line up perfectly. My dancing has a new energy, and my movement is smooth because I don’t feel tense anymore. Thanks again, you’re a fantastic teacher!
