Hmm why would banging your head lead to permanent loss in your good ear and a deterioration in the bad one? Surely if one were to worsen and one go permanently deaf it'd be the other way around? And since when does banging your head lead to permanent hearing loss? I thought basically that the water damaged his hearing aid when he fell in the Thames, making it go all feedbacky and emit a high pitched note, sending him permanently deaf in his bad ear, and his good ear was temporarily dodgy because of a concussion Seems that's not what they're going for, not a doctor but this seems a bit iffy
@itsonlysound4 жыл бұрын
Head injuries can cause hearing loss. Its not that complicated.
@tamara31614 жыл бұрын
It doesn't make sense to me either. I mean it would be a pretty crazy coincidence if banging your head leads to hearing loss in just that one good ear?? A concussion, yeah. But not complete hearing loss in one or both ears. How many times are football players hit on the head? Boxers? How many times was Ben beaten up and nothing happened?
@jk-gx6nc4 жыл бұрын
@@tamara3161 he was already partially deaf in one ear and because he banged his head on the boat pretty hard, that caused him to lose hearing in his good ear. I googled if you can lose your hearing by hitting your head and it said "traumatic brain injuries can result in a variety of problems related to the ear, that includes hearing loss, dizziness, vertigo and tinnitus". So it's possible to lose both hearing in your ears. I don't know about footballers, I researched about professional boxers and it said "referees had to stop matches for head injuries, like concussions more often when boxers were wearing headgear" I don't know if someone of the information is legit but I thought it might help
@itsonlysound4 жыл бұрын
@@tamara3161He didn't just lose it in his good ear. It made his left ear worse too. It's caused by damage to the auditory nerve/pathway which will have already been damaged due to his meningitis. Hearing loss does occur due to head injuries, and given that he smashed his head off the side of a boat, right above his right ear, it's not much of a stretch. Google head injuries and hearing loss. Also, It's a soap, so some suspension of disbelief is always required, and tbh this is the least unbelievable thing they've done in a while. I'm baffled by anyone (who is not simply an ableist bigot, wanting Ben to have his hearing) complaining about it.
@Itbmurr14 жыл бұрын
He had meningitis as a baby which caused the hearing loss in the one ear. Banging your head hard against something could cause disarticulated middle ear ossicles which would cause a conductive hearing loss (problem with middle ear pathway). They replace the middle ear bones and you should be fine afterwards. With them recommending a cochlear implant would suggest a total nerve (sensorineural) hearing loss. He could have had an autoimmune disorder which caused the loss of hearing in that ear, which would be more accurate in this case. If he had a loss of hearing due to a head injury (rare), then he would be far worse off than he is right now.

@@docstefmd830 I agree. Why not doing further testing if it is even permanent or temporary ? And why should a head injury suddenly lead to hearing loss in that one good ear? I love this soap and the ballum storyline but those last few episodes were all over the place. Plot holes, actions that dont make sense, people knowing where callum is but strangely no one just asks phil or shirley(stuart knows about the warehouse?Why doesn't he just go there?) where Keanu said he was and just searches in that place? Shirley knows Callum is kidnapped. Wwhy isn't she concerned with finding him? Why doesnt just someone pressure Karen to call Keanu to tell her where Callum is. As far as I know, Keanu was willing to tell Ben where Callum is and didnt want to kill him? Ben searched everywhere? Under a rock or what? The police is involved but they don't ask the people involved what they know.. Or asking Karen where her son is.They would've find him pretty easily.
