1:38 to 1:40 you apply a film on the mold to provide a smooth surface. Please let me know the name of that product and what company makes it. Thank you.

Beautiful. As usual. Tell me , is a carbon hull stronger than aluminium? I am here thinking about impact resistance. In case you hit a container mid Pacific .
@MarchTwentyfour-t8z6 ай бұрын
In that case, Aluminium would survive a lot better than carbon fiber. Carbon fiber composites are light, strong in their plane but weak in side impact strength. Of course design has a lot to do with your question, hitting a container straight on, in most designs there are bow crumble zones, water tight bulkheads reinforced by serious sized stringers etc plus a lot more. Generally speaking aluminium will dint where carbon will shatter. But there are other issues with Aluminium as well. There is no "perfect" material, just a material that most suits your purpose 😃

So you’re saying there is a lot of work involved in building a yacht like this?
@Theboaby Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say that, it only took 14 minutes as the video shows 🤣🤣

Can someone explain, does the wood stay under the carbon or get removed before completion?
@RobertKusicki Жыл бұрын
The wood is used to make the mold. They then cover it with a filler to make it super smooth, then it was covered with that goldish colored film which helps the carbon release from the mold and produces a super smooth surface that helps minimize the amount of fairing needed to accomplish a mirror-like finish once painted.

Must be. I've watch a few builds, never see anything bagged and cooked.
