I have to be perfectly honest here - while I don’t defend her using that word, what I saw was a woman who is extremely passionate and trying literally anything she can say to get through to a bunch of kids who enjoy pushing her to the brink of sanity on a daily basis. I had a teacher like that in high school, and looking back I’m surprised she didn’t break down on us like this woman did.
@Unbreakable245
@Unbreakable245 2 жыл бұрын
It came out the wrong way for sure. I am pretty sure she snapped, idk if she is a racist because although as a white person you should not say that word and some might argue it shouldn't have been in her vocabulary. The thing is that it is a word that everyone knows of in a way and it's complicated. Although i believe in second chances, i really hope she does not say it again.

@@Unbreakable245 I agree 💯 with you here. I don’t feel as though it’s in her vocabulary because it came off as her trying to talk like ‘them’ - but failed, and failed miserably. No doubt about it, she f’ed up. She might have otherwise been a good teacher, just sucks for everyone involved.

When people snap you say things that you have been keeping in and truly feel, and I’m pretty sure that this woman was racist and she was keeping that in the entire time, and because she got really angry at those kids, even if they did make her angry and push it to the brink multiple times. Perhaps she shouldn't have used the n-word, but I find it ironic that the parents of these kids, as well as the kids themselves, say it to each other all the time. Furthermore, I have had parents come into my classroom and threaten (in front of other students) to beat their own child's ass. But, the teacher cannot exert any form of discipline for fear of losing her job. These are the happenings in many public schools today. So, Vengeance, why don't YOU get real and go into inner-city teaching???

There's actually something teachers have been "trained" on called "real-talk". However, it's ok when administrative personnel use this, but most teachers know better lol both sides were wrong, but the sad part is, the teacher shouldn't just have to quit, students have accountability as well. ALL students have the right to a free and public education, however, no student has the right to take that education away from others by being disrespectful. These students should be suspended, sent to ISS, or removed from her room at the very least. She shouldn't have been fired, that was wrong. You don't fire an educator, you educate them on what they did wrong, let her see her mistakes and learn from them, send her to diversity training and classroom management techniques, and probably observe another teacher with the same situation. If you fire everyone for making mistakes, how will they learn and grow? Do we expel students when they say that word? The school would be emptied within the week.... No, you teach them how to be self sufficient and learn. Now, what I would do, as a parent, would be to march my child down to a job, shown them the only way to get a good job is through education, and that without it, you'll be at McDonald's, messing up my order and fixing the shake machine. All students can succeed, but not all WANT to, because most of the parents don't care.

I agree that these teachers need more help in their classrooms but there is no amount of help or lack of help that prompted that woman to use that word in referencing those children that has nothing to do with creating an environment of control that has to do with insulting the intelligence and being able to manipulate the minds of a particular group of individuals these children are at an age where they need to be taught to respect themselves and demand the respect of others and they cannot do that if they’re being treated with disrespect you cannot talk to someone that way that is not OK

You can have kids demand respect if they can’t show them towards their teachers. Teachers are human too and you act like all those kids are angels, they are not. Everyone has bad days but it is never okay to behave in a manner that goes against the standard of your profession. I'm not saying its OK to disrespect a teacher, what I am saying is there are standards in place to be followed and they need to be. Kids are the ones that are supposed to learn from adults, not the other way around. If she can't do that then she is not cut out to be a teacher. I understand kids can be annoying, I wouldn't mind if she insults them and says their are ruining their future etc. BUT she used the N-word to adress her black students which is a racial slur. It doesnt really matter what happened but that word is a loaded word and using it to insult black students is racist. Meaning she is a racist.

@anhtunguyen781

@@damanredarnishu5509 the N word can be a racial slur, but that doesn't mean she is racist. What is the definition of "racist" is what people usually forget. Calling her racist is just misleading. Just because someone cook it doesn't make them a chef. For someone to be racist they basically have to 1)generalize people from a race 2)prejuidice 3) Treating someone in a specific way simply because of their race. All of them aren't included. I know, the N word is specially used to insult black people. But taken with context it is not much different than saying "idiots", "retards" as trying to humiliate them. She didn't treat them like that just because they are black. One factor that she was their teacher, she might instinctively learned that they were ok using the N word to each other, so in her mind she let her guard down thinking it isn't that serious. Using the N word is definitely bad, people should learn not to use it. Not saying that she didn't do anything wrong, but it just might be not that bad

You're doing your best to teach kids who don't want to learn nor care about their future for only 30K a year. She broke down and lashed out. Calling kids the N word will not help the situation. Its obvious by the behavior in the classroom this was not the first incident.

She didn't even call 'em that. I think she was using the vernacular to connect via a 'hood' archetype. Closest thing was 'idiots.' Everyone in the video is a casualty of america's 'original sin' and shameful denial. Too bad schools don't have the time or resources to defuse shit like this before someone loses a job. I have had malicious teachers and have seen teachers extremely frustrated. There is a difference. This is something the parents, school, and teachers need to collaborate on. Yeah. . she shouldn't have called them idiots, but the one's she was pissed at were obviously trolling her. They're just old kids, but that kind of disrespect should always have consequences - not necessarily punitive. The teacher may not have even been aware of what she was saying. I would not be surprised if she pulled the phrase from memories of overheard conversations at the school I am happy to see that the station aired the clip with the empathetic female student. I think many americans need to be reminded that, in spite of the sensational story that conveniently allows assholes to continue to define groups they hate based on the behavior of a few asshole in the group, like any group, these students are individuals and don't all behave and think the same way.

I think she said those awful words out of frustration. She also needs to be calm and not take things so personally or seriously, of what comes out of these young kids mouths. Yes, teachers get an mental beat down because these kids test their patients to the max. I don’t expect perfection from teachers but, they themselves need to ask for a timeout and call someone, like administrator to give them few minutes to calm down and center him/herself again. I personally, am well rested before I go substitute at my school I work at. That specific teacher needs better strategies to have control of her class. If this is truly her calling, she has to be ready for the challenges of being with all sorts of kids. I personally. Would give her another chance, seeing that she is a young teacher.

I'm a teacher, and I am appalled by the tactics that are being used by all racist people. The insidious psychology that is being promoted to keep racism going in many black communities is that, because there are groups of white people who single out black people and they are racist, it is okay to randomly pick a white man and do it to him. That was done to me. I worked at a place where the majority of the students and employees are black. Sometimes, they would gang up against me, and, then, when I questioned them about it, their reply would be that white people do that to black people all of the time. That's called circular reasoning, and it doesn't resolve the issue. However, in spite of everything, I refuse to become racist. What we need to do is to stop focusing on skin tone, and to start identifying people by their names. Certainly, now, I could make up an excuse to falsely justify my actions, and become a racist. I mean, at times, they all attacked my character, but I'm not going to do it back because I am better than them. No! I'm not better than them because their race is different, but yes I am better them because I don't treat people like that. I embrace all races as being one and the same. Oh, and, about my race: It's the human race.
