I have something similar to that cause it has the zipper an the wheels which my hubby really likes because he is my cello caddy! lol I'm so glad I started learning the cello its so relaxing an satisfying when you finally learn that song you've been struggling with. Have a great day Jonathan!!

I have the carbon fiber case, bought the same design in the video off ebay for $275. It is very narrow, so if you have anything besides a strad pattern cello, it won't fit. Overall case is extremely light and sturdy, so I am happy with it. HOWEVER, the latch on the pull strap at the head is very weak and broke the first time I used it pulling my cello down a ramp.

Here’s what I want in a cello case: VERY LIGHT, 7 or 8 lbs..ONE LATCH, WHEELS, RECESSED PULL HANDLE, Secure bow holds, strong shell, emerald green color. My Eastman has all of that EXCEPT it is heavy, too many, many, many latches , and worse of all, the latches do not line up. It is a struggle to close. I would buy an Eclipse today because it has a single latch system, except the Eclipse does not have wheels or the accompanying recessed pull handle. CAN’T SOMEBODY MAKE A CASE WITH ALL OF THE ABOVE FEATURES. PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!
@CelloCoach4 жыл бұрын
The Newtech is 11lbs, with the wheels and recessed handle, but one latch is not secure. The HighTech slim is light enough for your demands but no wheels or handles. We have to decide if we want cake or we eat cake. Maybe a carbon fibre version of the Newtech with magnesium wheels and custom paint will do you for, but that will cost closer to 2000€

Great video, really helpful, just wondering which would be the best for traveling abroad and need to ship your cello between the Bam and the Eastman cases?
@CelloCoach5 жыл бұрын
BAM 1000% (no typo) , for a travelled from California to France with my Italian cello in checked luggage and it went flawlessly. The flight case (800$ more) is essential, bringing the total price of the BAM to over 1000$
@swiftwing77714 жыл бұрын
@@CelloCoach I'd meant to reply sooner but I took your advice and went with the BAM case, couldn't be happier, my cello has successfully survived being shipped twice already and I'm hoping that this'll continue well into the future. Thank You!!!

Jonathan Humphries lolol it’s ok, I did wait for your video for a month, i though you were busy and couldn’t make video, so I moved to SF last month with my cello in a soft case, it was ok~ thank you anyway, I’ll think about buying a hard case from your video!

I have a BAM Hightech Shamrock♪ BAM cases are a bit smaller than other brands? I sometimes have a difficulty to put my cello in there (even though my cello is 7/8).
@CelloCoach6 жыл бұрын
This is a subject of another video in the future. The Shamrock is not one I can recommend, for reason like yours, and others (no flight case, too narrow for Montagnana versions). Same goes for l'Opera model. I recall when the shamrock was all the rage, then people started trying to fit the flight case and this needed to add extra padding. Do you have a flight case?
@hh.77926 жыл бұрын
No, I don`t have a flight case. I am just a hobby cello player soI don`t think I will ever fly with my cello. Well, Shamrock was a bad choice.. . I just picked it because of the color and the price.

@eriklifchez38004 жыл бұрын
The bam case is $1250 and the Eastman is $400. You went on and on about how much you like the bam but there's no way to justify that preference. Your demonstration led me to believe that the Eastman Case is a much greater value.
@CelloCoach4 жыл бұрын
You are right : the Eastman is a good cello case for most cellists. I would buy one if my budget only allowed for a sub 500 expenditure. It's the difference between a good case and a great case.
@RezaWorlock5 жыл бұрын
Do you recommend the Eastman in the video or a bit cheaper BAM such as a 1001S
@CelloCoach5 жыл бұрын
BAM always, yet at that level, the Eastman is a good buy too. I recommend both, yet you need to try each with your cello. I had a student with a Montagnana copy - which are wider - and his only fit in these Eastman cases. Find a local luthier and try both if you can, Ali.

I really want to get a Bam Classic...but i dont know if its as light as a carbon fibre case.
@jervilopez18446 жыл бұрын
Oh and please do a String review!
@CelloCoach6 жыл бұрын
Jervi, the BAM Classic with wheels is just not what you want. The lack of a recessed handle on the back will eventually break off, and it prevents you from using the flight case. If is has to be Classic, buy a 1001S (670US$) amzn.to/2BCKE0q
@CelloCoach6 жыл бұрын
Err, I am too biased towards the Danish marques, but yeah, for the future. IDK, strings are so variable and can either be great or terrible given the cello. I was recently playing a WYNN cello this July, with full Larsens but had to down grade to Jargars because the cello was not responding to the Larsens.
@jervilopez18446 жыл бұрын
@@CelloCoach it all boils down to, it depends on the cello ahah. I dont know yet since I dont have money lol. I want to busk for it playing suzuki pieces (that way I can introduce it here in Spain... I really hate it here when people treat cello lessons as if it were day care...that's why when I subbed one day, I told them, if your parents are not coming then no lesson. Obviously these parents have time to do other things but not track the progress of their children, 4 to 7 yrs old) I obviously advocate talent education. "Where love is deep, much can be accomplished" - Dr. Shin Ichi Suzuki. I like your pedagogy as it reminded me of my first teacher (Suzuki certified of course) haha, I only learned études when I entered college at 16.
