You should take the hooks off of some lures and see how they react when you move them around in there.

I used to do exactly that when I had a 210 gallon aquarium. I had all kinds of wild, native fish in there. I would remove the hook and go “fishing.” It was fun to see him hit it

Bass eat crawfish don't they. I fish for bass often, and I've often used crawfish lures (and real crawfish a few times). Have the bass in this tank tried to eat the crawfish?
@jordanbrettabbott3 жыл бұрын
Yes, bass absolutely eat crayfish. I used to have a 210 gallon aquarium with a bass in it and he ate every crayfish I put in there.

@omarrodriguez42657 жыл бұрын
For the 55 gallon tank I say you start a creek native tank and include a couple of the small minnows in your local creek in there so you can have a bit of a community tank with a bunch of different species.

You should use 55 gallon as a quarantine tank for the feeder fish. Feed these feeders high quality pellet so as to gut load them. This will allow your fishes to enjoy high quality food without going through the torturous procedure of pellet train them. It also prevent any disease from transmitting to the basses and bluegill.

We kept a bunch of bait minnows we caught in a trap in a tank along with a 1/2 dollar sized bluegill that got in the trap. A day or so later we noticed the minnows swimming around and none of them had eyes. The blue gill was too small to eat them, but aggressive enough to suck out their eyes.

@jasongriffin88497 жыл бұрын
I had a tank with large and smallmouth bass, plus two bluegill, sunfish and a very large crawdad. The way I made sure the crawdad got fed was by taking one of those fish hook removers with the chosen food (either a redworm or minnow) and take it down to him. The really cool part was watching how he ate. Like eating corn on the cob until completely gone. Glad to see your fish healthy and adjusting well. It's a job keeping them that way. I would compare it to keeping a saltwater tank. Lots of daily checks and medicating. Especially after introducing new plants or creatures, including the minnows and worms used for food. Main one I found to watch out for is "Tail rot". I had mine over 2 years and they were healthy as can be. Wished I could have kept them.

With that size tank I would run a drain pipe behind it just like you’d have behind a washing machine and set up an overflow and an auto water changer, put a carbon filter on there so you don’t have to worry about your tapwater having chlorine and if your parameters are good you can just leave water running into your tank slowly all the time and not have to worry about doing water changes. If you want to get fancy you can hook up a sprinkler timer to it and just have it turn itself on whenever you program it to if you don’t want to leave it on all the time.

you should get some good submersible pumps and hook them up to the pythons hose. if you get a strong enough pump you can drain the tank for water changes in about 10 minutes. just using a siphon for large aquariums isn't efficient in the least.

I've seen in a video you trying to feed the crawfish dead minnows and they were floating, I've had taken care of many tanks and fed lobsters fish and the way to make them not float is to pretty much pop them by squeezing them in the middle and they are then able to sink and easier to feed and place for the crawfish.

The tank is looking fantastic. Really liked the slow-motion feeding footage. HEY, WHAT ABOUT ADDING SEVERAL OR MORE CYPRESS KNEES IN VARIOUS SIZES & HEIGHTS??? I'm talking about some really slender cypress knees of around 3" at the base, tapering down to 1.5" or so at the top. Randomly placed across the back with a few shorter ones in front of those, to add some depth to the look, or favoring one of the rear corners. That would look very realistic & beautiful, plus they wouldn't really take up much space & would compliment everything else already in there. ???????????
