We chum a lot, and if you tie the chum right at the top of the water, the movement of the boat will shake the chum and once tied you won’t have to touch it again till it’s gone. Bluefish fillet is a killer bait for catching macos and they are a ball to catch.

I hate to sound like a know it all but at 5:44 you put text on the screen that the Little Tunny you caught was also a known as a bonito and skipjack tuna. That's actually incorrect. The Little Tunny or Euthynnus alletteratus, is also called a False Albacore, while it is sometimes referred to as Bonito in some regions, the Bonito or Sarda Sarda is a separate species, but in the same family as the Little Tunny. The Skipjack Tuna or Katsuwonus pelamis is a cosmopolitan pelagic species. Part of the confusion in names comes from the fact that the Skipjack Tuna is sometimes referred to as the Oceanic Bonito, but a separate species from the Little Tunny nonetheless. The Skipjack tuna has a solid colored back with stripes on it's belly.

Not being a boat owner, how long does the trolling motor work without power from the engine to hold the GPS spot?
@BamaSaltwater
@BamaSaltwater 3 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the battery setup and wind/current. I have a 24v trolling motor, so I have two full size batteries that it runs off of. Normally I can get a few days use with it (about 8 hours of fishing) if the wind is not bad. But offshore can burn through some battery but I haven't lost power yet with this setup and I've sat a while in rough conditions. Just all depends on the setup!
@Ray56z
@Ray56z 2 жыл бұрын
Have the 36V , used 9 hours flat once and didn't run out of power. Low amp charge it was full load in 5 hours. You don't have your trolling setup connected to your outboard, you charge at home/slip. Most have another system for pumps and lights and the outboard on it's own. Outboard keeps it's system charged, and you never want to use it up and not be able to start. A dead outboard system is far worse than a dead car battery.

Keep your eyes on Facebook marketplace! I got lucky enough to find a 1989 proline 23’ walk around in running condition with a 89 evanrude xp 175! Paid 2500 for boat and trailer! @@probiethetank8825 There was a guy on dauphin island late last year selling a 21ft Roballo center console with a 200 Yamaha. The motor had an issue with temp alarm only at full throttle on occasion. He wanted I believe 12k which I thought was ridiculous. He eventually dropped it down to I believe 5k just to make room for his new boat. I figured it was nothing more than just salt buildup from lack of flushing the motor. I had cash in hand and was not even going to mention the word negotiate. I just missed that deal 😂. I figured even if I dropped 4-5k into repairs and upgrades, it would be one hell of a boat

I live on lake St. Clair and just fish freshwater but those smaller 3d crystal minnows work great for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, pike, musky and I even get big perch on them. Looks like false albacore to me. Atlantic bonito has straight lines and is smaller in size. Not so dark meat as well. Cheers. A lot of fun. I got two of those. Big ones in buzzerds bay yesterday.

Great video and thanks for the effort. Something tells me a chum slick going toward the rig not away from it would be even more effective.

Thanks for watching, and normally yes, but I was trying to use the rig to block some of that North Wind chop that was ascending upon me that day.

Loving the J & M tackle plug !! I have a 20+ year old custom eel / Cobia rod that John Giannini built and I still love it with a loud 20 + year old 706 hanging on it. It has caught and caught and caught in the gulf, the bay, hell everywhere from Jack's to sea turtles to 250 pound bull sharks off the rings, to axe handle Spanish and baby codia off the Fairhope pier !!!!

I used to work 25-35 miles offshore on a platform & seen 14 John Boats out there. Kinda crazy if ya ask me but I've been out there when I had my 18' Bay Boat.

I'm getting ready to buy my first boat, a 2001 Scout SF 172 and have been looking for content alluding to whether or not I can fish off-shore in it here in SC. The more I read the more comfortable I am with the prospect of it. Obviously going to be fishing the sounds and ICW, some of the rivers that run here upstate. But really interested in how that vessel handles the open sea. Thanks for the great content!

We live in New England and we would take our hydra-sport 24 or 22 can’t remember 60 miles to the continental shelf (the canyons). Had to be the right day. And sometimes it wasn’t. Learn the hard way sometimes.

@@sharonbraselton4302 your joking right? That boat is a death trap. Wouldn’t be caught in that more than a mile offshore. Good for waterskiing or pulling the kids around. And just cruising around some lake. But that’s a googen boat. Buy that drive it around on ocean with some wave action and you will see what kind of boat you want/need for future. If not, keep buying them. Saftey first.
