Bamboo flowers and seeds

This video is about bamboo and its flowering habits. I have recently been lucky enough to find viable bamboo seed and have successfully germinated some.

Our bamboo just flowered and it dropped thousands of seeds! Bamboo saplings are shooting up everywhere. It's amazing! 🍀

Nice video thanks. Do you close/sealed the ‘fast food’ container lid when planting the bamboo seeds? How often you water the seeds? Please let me know. Thanks

Yes I sealed the containers to make sure that they didn't dry out too quickly. But I checked on them every few days, and this opening of the lid provided enough of an air change to make sure they didn't run out of oxygen. I just kept the compost damp, but with it being sealed its probably many weeks between waterings.

I did an update back in January this year, I've just added the link to the video in the video description above. They are growing very quickly now its May and the sun is much stronger, I will probably do another update in a few weeks time.

Bamboo seeds are impossible to germinate so don't expect it to flower.

They are difficult to germinate, but I've managed to grow bamboo from seed ten times in the past, you just need to make sure that you have very fresh seed and then you sow lots as the viability is low.
