This is fantastic, and super useful, since I've been wondering how to install lights on my shelves. However, I removed one of my shelves today to reorganize the bottom of my unit, and now that I am trying to put the shelf back on, the 6 pegs that hold the shelf in the unit can't even stand the weight of the empty shelf, and every time I put them back up, I put on the shelf, the pegs fall off and then she shelf falls off :D So I landed here while trying to find a way to reinforce the sides, so the shelf stays up. If you have a video like that anywhere, please direct me to it :D But I'll keep looking. And thanks anyway for this. Now I know what kind of LED's to buy, and I have MSC that I can use to coat the strips. So this is awesome :D

I'm currently in the middle of my build. It's taking a bit longer than I was expecting. IKEA didn't have the shelves available so I made the shelves myself. Plus I had to learn how to work with LED lights. Had to order extension cable for the LEDs so that should be in tomorrow and hopefully I can get the LED portion done soon. Then all that's left is the acrylic door which looks pretty easy. So far it looks pretty nice. Especially with the molding I bought to hid the LEDs. I opted not to varnish my shelves because I'm not sure the heat from the LEDs would create a fire hazard. Varnish burns easily. But two layers of dark brown (practically black) paint looks good enough.

So sorry for the wait bro!!!! I will say after I tried this method I did go back and make a few for my 29” but I only put them on the back side of the shelf. None of them were showing signs of Boeing but figured since I was already doing this from my others I might as well.

Man, keep putting up this videos. The first part was extremely helpfull. I used it on my BESTA's and the lighting works perfectly. Followed all the intructions to the letter and gad 0 issues. I'm getting a PAX unit soon so we'll see how it goes with the acrilic. One question thou, with the metal bars for support how much weight can the shelve withstand?? Thanks for your reoly brother.

Thank you for the help. I had the Cefrank lights in my cart for a while and didnt know if I should buy them or not. Also I really need to get those Pax displays. I didnt know they were way deeper than the Bestas I have. Getting into P1 statues, their bases are too mighty for the Bestas. So I need deeper cabinets since statues arent getting smaller. Next step are doors. :)

Very good advice here! I do have a question though. I plan on using this technique to reinforce a shelf for the 70 pound Prime One Poison Ivy Hush statue. I do plan to instal an acrylic front “door” though. By installing these reinforcements, do the shelves remain flush with the unit, or do they add too much length that sticks out the front?

one day I'm actually going to build one of these to display some of my midschool BMX frames..I'm slowly getting there..I currently have the space emptied out, I have the frank LED light kits, I have metal shelf pins, I have white paint, I have a 8000mh powerbank, I have cable hiders, I have some small angle brackets to strengthen the entire unit.. just need the clips for the led strips, can't find the right style anywhere..also need the wood trim piece to attach the LEDs..also the actual Pax frame and shelves..my stupid Ikea had shelves but no units then they had units with no shelves..now they have both and I have no money..lol..one day..

Hey bro! You have to be packing some seriously weight for the shelf to just snap at the shelf pin area. What kind of stuff you packing that makes you think it would break? The shelf pins help to evenly distribute the weight so I’ve never once had a concern over that. Bowing I’d usually run culprit of shelf fails from what I understand. Let’s unpack that thought more though of you have more details. Thanks!

Had the PAX wardrobe frames for awhile, but I'm getting the shelves themselves next month. Had to ship to cousin who is moving here to get them since it's a DISCONTINUED PRODUCT!! :( Downside is that I don't have a saw. Hey bro, so the shelves still just sit on the Ikea pins? Are you using a special kind of pin or the ones that come with the unit? The purpose of the metal rods is to just make the shelves not sag? Thanks!

Yup! Rods are there to prevent bowing which is the main reason most shelves break. As far as shelf pins go I throw those garbage plastic ones away that they come with. I use metal pins as noted in the description of my part 1. With those two combined I have no fear for shelf breakages ever. Hope this helps!

I was really hoping to see how you get your acrylic doors not just open and close but stay that way. Do you lock them? Is there a magnetic mechanism that you use to keep it shut? Or do you just shut it and leave it like that?

Hey BAM, have you looked into led strip light diffusers at all? You put them on the led strips for a really clean strip light look, that way instead of having the noticeable individual led bulbs, it looks more like a uniform strip of light. Sort of like neon lights.

I'll most certainly have to look into it. What I've done for now since I have it and showcased in this video is basically spray paint my own matte colored diffuser on there. I have to say that the way I hide the lights with the wood strip......these will hardly be needed though as you can barely seem them until you're directly under it.

Anyhow, with the weight of statues I’ve taken your advice with closet twin track shelving rod (30” in white) and I purchased the screw in pins. What I do is just angle one of the shelves so it's like a corner unit. Unfortunately though there isn't a legitimate corner unit that they've produced yet, would be a great idea.

BAM Collectibles ok yeah that’s smart and genius might have to do that! Do you secure them together or to the wall? How do you make sure they won’t fall over? I usually put a piece of cardboard under them to balance it out. Also another thing them being put side to side does that affect how far the doors go out? Do you have any problems or anything? One last question for your smaller shelf’s which lighting do you use since it’s an older video there wasn’t a lighting thing. Joed Diaz All good man! I do not secure then to a wall because once they have the statues on them it’s impossible for my child to have enough strength to tip them. Plus I have doors on them so she won’t climb. BUT I do have a girl so people with little boys it may be different 😂 I don’t have any problems with doors either. If you see the end of my acrylic door video the door swing all the way open. In regards to lighting on the 29” I just don’t have an easy recommendation at this time. Custom lighting would be the route Id go if I didn’t have all the extra lights that I do.

I saw that pax shelf limit is 26 lb which is nothing compared to big 1:4 statues. Do you think that these reinforcements would be enough? Or do you know what is the real weight limit? NeonWolf Dxb If PAX shelf limit Was 26 pounds I would’ve lost my statues years ago! I truly cannot speak to the weight limits on anything because I have no idea how to calculate it but I can tell you there’s not a snowballs chance in hell these things are bending anytime soon with my 60 to 70 pounds worth of statues on top of them. I wish I had a way to calculate them for everybody but for the most part I’ve Just been keeping an eye on mine to make sure there’s no Boeing because that’s the first sign that I imagine they will break.

Approximately How much weight does it hold with the reinforcement?

I cannot answer that because I do not know how to stress test and don't want to be responsible for people breaking shelves or statues breaking. I have a 50-60lb statue on one and it's holding perfectly fine for me with the reinforcements. That's all I can personally attest to.

Steel reinforcement for sure. But with double comp and placing all the weight requirement onto the shelf pins I think that's a bad idea. Worth spending extra for the bars and you get more space to display.

I have a mixture of both! Just recently started getting into the 39" but the 29" has worked perfect for me for many years now. I just had a VERY large statue come in that needed the 39" so I had to try it out.

That's a fantastic question haha! I'd love to have that answered but no idea how to stress test something. All I know is they hold 60-70lbs with no problems at all so that worked for me!

Underside would have been to ugly for my taste. It's a method of doing it but not the best for the overall look I was going for. The end result was to prevent bowing which these will and have so far :)

i´ll give you that you have some great ideas and the displays look sweet, but please mate align yourself with someone who has a bit of tool use knowledge and your instruction videos could become absolutely epic, please do not take this as a jab at you, i hobnestly enjoy the result of your videos, and wish you the in your future endavours, but again know that your videos could be so much better with a tool savy assistant

Wow! When using the power cutter, pretty much everything that can be done wrong has been done wrong. No hand protection, no gloves, overcasting the metal rod with a cutting disc (!), cutting wood with a cutting disc for metal and many and more hair-raising things... Please do not show such dangerous misdeeds in your videos, inexperienced could imitate them and seriously injure themselves.
