That is why I loved this manga/anime - because all the "sins" are already, from the start, the most powerful beings in their world. It is cool to see the heroes get progressively stronger, starting from nowhere - but it is so much fun to have an epic character from the beginning

The sins got stronger over time because first they were beaten in less than 5 minuts by Galand. At the time of the tourment meliodas had a powerlevel of 32.000 while the blue bird demons all had a powerlevel of 1.000 According to someone who made a video explaining powerlevels in the seven deadly sins universe.
