We're about the same age, & unfortunately we both became widows within a few months of each other, after many years with our beloved husbands. Watching Becky helps me to be a better Christian, as my faith has weakened a bit after my husband passed. I have no family, so it was easy for me to feel very negative with no support. But I've kind of "adopted" Becky in my heart as a new friend or sister. She doesn't know it, but just seeing her & hearing her gentle voice has helped me heal. I pray for her & her family every day. It would have been a shame to lose The Hillbilly Kitchen, but totally understandable had Becky decided not to continue. I'm sure that doing the videos has been therapeutic for her though, giving her something to occupy her time. I know I struggle with finding purpose since I lost my husband. This dessert looks wonderful! I will make it as soon as I get a grocery delivery. I live just north of you a few miles into KY. My husband was scheduled for a major surgery during the snow storm. I had to travel to and from the hospital to check on him and our pets at home. God has watched over me for which I am so grateful. I am thankful for the pleasant change in temperature that God is bringing our way. God bless you!

Hang in there Becky! Warm weather is just around the corner. It's pretty extreme here in ND too, but not in the same way. It nearly got up to freezing today, and is supposed to get into the 40s next week - that's tropical weather by our standards. Pro tip: if it's below freezing and you can't get rid of your garbage, put it outside the door. It will freeze and when it freezes it won't become aromatic if you catch my drift. Don't worry about people judging you for leaving a bag of garbage outside the door, they will be fine.

This looks so good! My daughter is away at college in Murfreesboro and she was born in Florida, so this month is the first time she's driven in the snow. They must do banana splits differently down in Tennessee. Up here in Minnesota, I've never seen walnuts on a banana split. Peanuts, yes, even slivered almonds, but never walnuts. Me, I think I'm going to put in pecan halves when I try this. God bless you, sister!

Here in Indiana, it’s starting to warm up, despite all the rain, Thank God! Because, the freezing rain is the worst! Bananas go just great with strawberries anyway. I have seen this on another channel, I watch and, I’ll have to try it. I make a banana split ice box cake and, I will have to see which one, I like better! I have a homemade vanilla cake recipe that I make when I want cake. Do you think it would work if I made this cake mix up as per directions, wet, and poured it over fruit? I'm not supposed to eat boxed processed foods, because of my health, but this looks so good that I'm wondering if I can improvise someway. I don't add a lot of sweetner to my cake mix and add stevia to it lower sugar content anyway. It would just be fantastic if I could make it this way and it turn out delicious!! I miss the days of eating processed box foods because it's delicious and so easy. But anyway....it is what it is. I would appreciate your opinion. TY for posting this delicious video!!

MORE FLAVOR TIP: When I made this, I fried the bananas in salted butter first. It's easy enough, you just need to keep the heat low and have some patience. It caramelizes the natural sugars in the banana while that little bit of salt in the butter seasons the banana and really opens up the flavor. It does make them trickier to handle, but all you need to deal with that is a silicon spatula and a piece of parchment or a silicon mat as a landing pad. That little bit of effort takes an already great dish and makes it even better. I highly recommend it. Also, rather than paying extra for mini chocolate chips, I just used a cup of regular chocolate chips(we get the big bag from Costco), and put them through the food processor. Melted perfectly. 👍
