We love biscuits and gravy in our house! I just never thought to make it like this, great idea!! PRO TIP: if you don’t have the time or if you are like me and don’t care for canned biscuits, then buy the frozen biscuits. Pillsbury is the brand I normally buy, but some stores, like Walmart, have an off brand or store brand. Anyway, they are the next best thing, next to homemade, just pop them into the oven frozen, they are Raw biscuits, bake according to directions, and they are fluffy and delicious!! They taste nothing like canned biscuits!! I promise!! Thank you for the recipe Becky!! God Bless!🙏♥️🙏 And God Bless our Country!! We are in for some very hard times, I’m afraid. We won’t make it if we don’t rise up, and stop these evil people. I turned 60 years old last September and the things I have seen in my lifetime, some have been AMAZING!! Some have been pretty bad!!! But one of the biggest things, when I started school and up until about 3rd or 4th grade, we started every day by putting our hand over our heart and facing the flag and saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Then we bowed our heads and prayed. Then suddenly we couldn’t pray anymore!! Because 1 hateful, evil Atheist woman didn’t like it, and all the Christians just sat on their hands and let her take that privilege away!!! We CANNOT do that this time!!! God tells us to go out into the world and spread his message!! Nowhere in the Bible does it say to set on your hands, keep your mouth shut and hope for the best!!! God allowed us to have this AMAZING COUNTRY, but it had to be fought for, and a lot of lives were lost in The process!!! I believe that God EXPECTS us to protect what he allowed us to have, and to keep it!! If that means we have to fight on our soil, other Americans, who don’t Love this Country, nor the Privilege and Freedom that goes along with it, then that’s what is going to have to happen. Hard times are not coming, they are here!!! We better start hitting our knees more, and stop watching the junk that has become our entertainment!!! God Bless this Country!! We really need it!!!!🙏🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸🙏🙏🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸🙏

My biscuit and gravy casserole has fried taters on the bottom, a little sausage gravy over them, partially scrambled eggs over them, gravy over everything and biscuits on top, and usually brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter, and serve with fried apples and sliced tomatoes on the side. Makes for a fine Appalachian roots breakfast for all. You can use bacon grease or leaf lard for some super tasty biscuits, but I use buttermilk. Some folks, like me, find that canned biscuits have a really funky smell and down right offensive taste, but if you have to, store bought frozen biscuits are better, but you can freeze your own, just lay them out on a tray to freeze and then transfer them to a bag or box to pull out as many as you need, when you need them. If you find you've made too many biscuits, which I've never done, but you can freeze the extras and make yourself a little collection to cook up when you're tired or have surprise guests. When teaching others to make biscuits, trying to get across to some of them that overworking the dough makes them tough just sometimes doesn't register, and they really overwork the scraps, so I started getting them to cut their biscuits in squares to eliminate overworked scraps and just cut down on the time they spend in the kitchen. I always season my new cast iron several times before using to get a good season on it, and will leave cast iron in the oven when cooking other things. Have heard folks say you can't use any metal on cast iron, but me and my entire family have been doing it our whole lives without any problems whatsoever. Cooking with cast iron leaches iron into your food and therefore into your system, and it eliminates the need for taking iron supplements. Cast iron is the best thing you can cook with.

@@safelink6230 It's how the old folks that I knew did it, and they had some of the best seasons on their cast iron skillets around. Another mistake folks make with cast iron is not drying it properly after cleaning. We always heated them up on the stove eye to dry completely before placing it back in the oven.

There was a young military widow who had five kids that lost everything she had in a house fire and had no insurance, something I knew about all too well. Folks were gonna throw her a housewarming party to replace what she lost, but for some reason, this party was dated a month from when I found out about it, I actually lived several counties away and had just found out about her troubles that happened three weeks before that. My question was, what on earth are you supposed to do for the whole month until the party??? This was one of those things that just kicked me in the gut and I said, gather your duds, we're going shopping. Told her that I was just gonna get what she needed to take care of her younguns and was sure that she'd get better quality items at her party. Took her to a big department store and had to place things in the cart for her because she was too shy, but was looking at cast iron and found some good deals while she was tending her younguns. I said I wanted these cast iron skillets to be my gift to her, she was shocked by that and asked what I called everything in the cart. I told her to forget all that stuff, this is my gift to you. Had to show her how to care for it and season it but she soon came to love it. Another sad part of this story was the party. The ladies throwing the party were well to do women that lived very comfortable lives. It was sad that most of the items I bought her that day I took her shopping was some of the best quality stuff she got. The real kicker is, there was a very young mother there that had very little herself that gave her a really nice heavy duty casserole dish and some really nice pot holders. It reminded me of the widow's mite. These wealthy folks could've given so much more, but the poorest young lady in the group gave from the heart and dug deep in her pockets to get it. I brought my truck to the party to haul back all of her gifts that ended up being no more than would've fit in the trunk of her own vehicle, and I was gonna ride behind her back to her new, yet seriously downgraded rental house, but I had to go back in the building and I gave them a serious tongue lashing. I know most folks would've let it go and not said a word, but gifting somebody that had lost everything they had a cheap dollar store whisk in a fancy five dollar or more gift bag was just more than I could take from these wealthy old biddies that made her wait well over a month for fifty dollars worth of goods in nearly a couple hundred dollars worth of wrapping, seriously. My stern words evidently hit home with some of these women, and several dropped by her house later and gave her money and/or a more durable gift. It still makes me mad to think on it, and makes a few tears fall too, but I don't regret giving them what for. And the young widow still brags on her cast iron skillets, and have caught her telling the story on how she got them too, but she has added to her cast iron collection, and she is very good friends with the poor young mother that dug deep in her time of need. Another thing to note here is that I didn't know the generous and poor young mother at the time. But it turns out that she gave a much higher quality gift than anything she had in her own home, so me and the young widow each gave her a piece of cast iron for her birthday, something she had always wanted. Shortly after these events, the poor young mother's husband got a better paying job and they were able to buy their own home after a few years of saving. Go figure.

Hi Ms. Becky! New Subscriber and I enjoy You and Your Channel. You've combined Sweet Southern Cooking, Hospitality along with Your Faith of Our Creator, Our Heavenly Father. I'm a Southern Native American Indian of the Croatan-Lumbee Tribe. Your cooking methods are similar to what I know/was taught EXCEPT THIS MILK GRAVY that SO many People seem to enjoy. Milk Gravy WAS/IS A LUXURY when I was growing up. Gravy WAS made from whatever You could find or had with the left-over fat/grease. You take that fat mixed with flour and water and You made AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE to go with your Biscuits, Corn Bread or Flour Bread. It's STILL delicious to this Day and with the luxury of adding Milk is certainly a PLUS. However, back in those Days when I was growing up, Biscuits and Gravy can go a LONG WAY to fill up a hungry Family or hungry Farm Workers... And STILL can. Thank You for sharing Your wonderful Southern Home Cooking, advice in the Kitchen as well as sharing Your Faith in Our Creator, Our Heavenly Father God and His Precious Son Jesus. Much Love to You and Your Family, may Our Creator, Our Heavenly Father continue to Bless You, and Your Family and all in this forum. ✝️💗🙏🕊️🎺🇺🇲

One of my kid's favorites is poor man's SOS: Hamburger gravy. Just like your sausage gravy, just brown however much hamburger you want to use, then add flour and keep adding and stir until the hamburger won't absorb any more flour. then add milk to make the consistency you like. I usually will add some cheddar or any other shredded cheese. Add whatever spices you like. Serve over toast or eat straight. Delicious!

I love the Pillsberry frozen biscuits. Since I was a kid, I was taught that we took the Jimmy Dean sausage in the role, cut them into round disc and cook them and then place them on the paper towel to drain all the oil off. Cook your biscuits, and then go on your gravy Gravy will get tighter as it cools always remember that When everything was said and done, I sliced my biscuits into halves placed a disc of sausage on top of them, and then poured the gravy on. I have not seen anybody do that, but my family has done that from generation to generation. Take care and God bless 🙏🏼

My Mother and Grandmother made biscuits and gravy. I lost both of my mother and grandmother when I was 21 and never knew how to make biscuits and gravy! Your recipe tastes just like what they made! Thank you so much for bringing back the memories! God bless you!

I was just saying to my husband how wonderful it is to utilize KZbin to get into 'real' people's kitchens, homes, experiences and share their lives... we feel blessed to be part of this community! We bought a 62 acre island on a lake in the wilderness of British Columbia, CANADA 🍁 and we are learning SOOOO much from other creators - thank you for sharing!!

Thank you so much for your informative videos that do not have an irritating sound loop! I will take the tip using the whisk to slice off small pieces of butter. I appreciate that you include God in your videos. By His hand we all are fed. Keep up your good work.
