I am from Sirkazhi. Whenever my dad used to visit Kumbhakonam for shopping on those days he used to visit their and inform us about the refreshments he enjoyed including having degree coffee.He had a previlege of having refreshments st kitchen itself. This was a story of wayback in 1970.

We visited Kumbakonam a couple of times in 2017 and 2018 but did not get an opportunity to eat at this place. We found Venkataramana and fell in love with the homely tasty food there. I still remember my first visit to this restaurant. It was during a visit toKumbakonam some 10 years ago. We were looking for some nice vegetarian restaurant to have lunch. Someone told us there was an old restaurant within the premises of Kumbeswarar temple. We went and saw the restaurant but since itwas a very small one and could not Impress us look wise; we hesitated but finally decided to try the food. Lo and behold, the food was so tasty and fresh and we relished it so much that we would take our tiffin for our journey from Kumbakonam to Bangalore only from there besides going to this hotel only during our further visits to the city.

There are two mangalambika hotel. Although this one claims to be the oldest one we as a customer want a good taste. We tried this Mangalambika inside the sannidhi street but its definitely not worth the hype . The coffee especially was not that good. However the outside New mangalambika coffe and tiffen centre is really very good. I strongly recommend to try that hotel instead of this. Or in case if you want to give a try please try both and you will get to know that the new outside Mangalambika has a very good taste and reputation
