the most sophisticated pop Bananarama album. I love this track too. It creates a certain ambient, and it has nice vocal harmonies too

@@MargauxHemingway It definitely creates a certain ambience, and it always reminds me of the rainy season in California. I was in LA staying near the beach when I first heard this song. It brings back memories of dimness, beautiful sights throughout that state and all. This song always takes me there.

Someone said this is their best song. They are right! Another sad example of a song better than the ones that got more airplay and became hits.
@curtismcneil86952 жыл бұрын
Absolutely I think this was easily the best song not only on this album but of there careers. I mean it has a great opening lyrics a good chorus and a great saxophone solo. This song would have been a great follow up to Venus which went No.1. All it needed was a good video to promote it. No doubt it would have hit top 10.

It reminds me of Sade or George M Careless Whispers, great song.

Wow! I'm comment 13? This group and in particularly this song never got the recognition both deserved. From the lyrics, the harmony of the ladies voices, and the background music..this song is a wonderful piece. Personally while some of their other songs got massive radio play, I think "Dance With A Stranger" is the best thing they ever did. Watching and waiting for the moment to arrive....Beautiful.

The best songs are rarely the ones that get the most radio play and become hits. Thank God for KZbin, where I can find these gems.

I'm transported into a world with Bananarama crooning and a pina colada on a balmy evening as my tears roll down my cheeks as I try to relive those good 'ol times I still love their new music on 'Masquerade' but this song does something to my soul in an oddly melancholic manner

Amazing that this song never found its way onto a soundtrack... *_There's no emotion... only passion in your crime..._* Love that line! You can feel the sadness and desperation for want of human touch. Should have been a single release! 🌕

I get SO nostalgic listening to this song... If I had to pick just one, this would probably be my all-around favorite Bananarama song. It's quite likely the one I've listened to the most. Then again, I'm a huge fan of the "True Confessions" album, by far their best. This song, along with "A Trick of the Night" and "In A Perfect World", represents one of the best sequences of songs on an 80s pop album.

This should have been released as a single too bad
@curtismcneil86959 ай бұрын
@@jimmiesmith5811 Yes I mean to this day I don’t get it ? It had good lyrics and a smooth popish sound/melody. The opening followed by the chorus then the second part followed by the chorus then the Saxophone part makes the song and gives it even more life. This song just needed better promotion and that was the video era for music. After Venus I believe they released Trick of the night which was ok but didn’t pack the same punch as Venus. Most of their videos back during that time were upbeat and fun with a lot of dancing around. This would have been the time to make a little more serious video because it was a much more mature song then what they had put out before. Oh well but it’s still my favorite song of any song they ever did.
@Cicilo19833 ай бұрын
Bananarama had something about not releasing ballads as singles, just because their first attempt to do so (the lovely "Cheers Then") was their first single that flopped. I always felt it was a ridiculous rule.
@curtismcneil86953 ай бұрын
@@Cicilo1983 , Yea I think everyone gets caught up with dance music and fancy beats. The reason I believe it would have worked if Marketed the right way is because they had already had several upbeat hits such as Hey Hey goodbye, Robert Dinero’s waiting, Cruel Summer, Venus. Trick of the Night I think was a song they thought might be a hit but it really wasn’t and that might have persuaded the record company a long with producers to not promote it. True confessions was a good album for its time but outside of Venus there were not a lot of other hits. I still believe to this day if they meaning the Producers (Record Company) would have really promoted that song and had made a really quality video featuring the Girls in a more mature video instead of just clowning around dancing it would have took them to another level professionally. Kinda like when an actor does comedy but then makes a movie where it’s a more serious role and he broaden’s his overall appeal. I think Dance with a stranger could have been that song where they made that transition to a more mature sound. I mean they did have really good success with WOW ! I herd a rumor became a big hit and there were some other catchy’ tunes but still no Ballard or anything that would again broaden their audience and show versatility with being able to go in different direction.

"Dance With A Stranger" Scarlet lips, a silk embrace But there's no laughter in her face A crowded room is a lonely place full of lies A wicked smile a shifting glance The passion light you feel at last Her pleasure somehow eased the pain Too late to chance it all again Before we kiss the world goodbye It's only a breath away One more dance before you die So tender as the music plays There's no emotion Only passion in your crime Killing the love that drives you out of your mind When you dance with a stranger A spinning room a cool caress A try to hide my loneliness Cheek to cheek we let the evening drift by The hollow mask has disappeared We drown our love through salty tears We speed at night like a racing car And now I see you as you really are Before we kiss the world goodbye It's only a breath away One more dance before you die So tender as the music plays There's no emotion Only passion in your crime Love is the last thing on your mind When you dance with a stranger Dance... Dance with a stranger Dance... Before we kiss the world goodbye It's only a breath away One more dance before you die So tender as the music plays There's no emotion Only passion in your crime Love is the last thing on your mind When you dance with a stranger Watching and waiting For the moment to arrive Dance with a stranger Love is the last thing on your mind When you dance with a stranger There's no emotion Only passion in your crime Love is the last thing on your mind When you dance with a stranger
