Favourite track on True Confessions. I love all the versions of this song, particularly this one. The album one is a pure classic, the Number one mix cool and the Live tour SOS Band version is awesome too.

This song came out in late 1986 and that's when I was in 12th grade. I can recall times when I would leave home to go to school and the leave school to go home., that I would end up with this song playing through my mind continuous nonstop.

The original album mix of this underrated Bananarama tune soars WAY above this typical sounding SAW production. When hearing the first seconds of this version years ago, I thought I was listening to a remix of something from 'Princess?'

@byronmills59524 жыл бұрын
@@darmok072 It was actually the BBC show 'In at the deep end' presented by Paul Heiney. I much prefer this to the other version made - it must be remembered that they requested it to be made in black and white. Bananarama and London records were deliberately very obtuse in their reaction to this Video . It still puzzles me to this day as to why they participated in the programme in the first place if they were going to be so miserable at the result. In at the deep end was a very popular show - the reaction that was given by them didn't really portray them in a particularly good light in the UK.

@@darmok072 Your memory isn't that bad if you can remember that! His test video did indeed feature a man dressed up in a bear suit serving a young boy jelly on a silver service platter - the young boy then precedes to catapult the jelly back at the bear - all quite surreal! All done to the tones of the Beatles from me to you - the rights of its usage must have been much cheaper back in 1986! Its mild eccentricity in concept must have been chanelled towards impressing Heineys mentor Ken Russell. ☺️

...WELL, I, as an American, never saw this Video version, 'cause the original album version was chosen as the 3rd single in the US...and flopped MISERABLY! : ( ...But, to review this video; I can see why the 'Nanas hated it; Keren looks VERY unsure of herself in her close-ups, to the point her hair seems to be covering up her expressions! Sarah has a disinterested stride; she probably didn't like the cold! ...she looks fab, though, great lighting on her skin.... Sibohan fares the best here; she seems to getting into the '40's french euro noir film vibe, & carries herself with an early 'Shakespeare's Sister' confidence (2:24).....but the sunny, 'Say I'm Your Number One' groove-disco sound doesn't gel with the gloomy, cold (notwithstanding, the deleted/ toned down 'male prostitute' lyrics) in the video...OH, well....¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

Gregg Sarkasian-McAuliffe Keren was pregnant. The 12" version starts with a recording of her baby's heartbeat recorded before he was born. Siobhan was heavily pregnant in the I Can't Help It video - that's why her tits look enormous and she doesn't appear in the part where they are frolicking in milk with the guys.

*Love the album version more...* 🌃🌉🎷 The song has a sordid dark downtown atmosphere that the remix removes (along with the saxophone). Bananarama look lovely in a black and white video though this is copying a bit of "Robert De Niro" and a crane thrown in. Siobhan looks super hot though!

Good mix and re-recorded vocals, but SAW couldn't make up their minds on this track. It got dragged through a stack of re-incarnations. The original 12" being re-worked into Princess's "Say I'm Your No. 1" (The Number One Mix). And, now this - a clear attempt at "Just Be Good To Me" by SOS Band. The original album version reigns supreme - before SAW got their greasy mitts on it.

That’s not the UK-Version, that’s the US-Version, as well the video as the Mix; that’s the remix from Stock/Aitken/Watermann. The original version (UK-Version) is from Swain & Jolley and it’s much better, more romantically and mystically, even New Wave. The remixing from S/A/W doesn’t fit to this song and sounds artificial, from my opinion...
