When I play spectre it seems like I'm a walking wall with no damage but when the enemy playes it it feels like it takes everything to kill her
@Zenovarse Жыл бұрын
Damage is certainly something that spectre does not lack. You do pretty much the MOST damage in any game you are in, unless there is a Zeus. It's the same as pa. Except pa builds a bunch of damage items, but the only real damage item you build is manta. Jump the squish and burst them down in like 2 seconds. Given farm, you can almost certainly kill one support in a shadow step or a haunt. You don't even need your real hero to kill them. If you just go shadow step -> abyssal or hex or orchid or whatever -> manta -> Spectral dagger -> shadow step away, it's often enough to kill any low hp hero without you commiting anything at all. It could be them have 5 heros but a bit split apart, your team all in random places, and you can still make this move solo and essentially win a fight without any fighting.
@Zenovarse Жыл бұрын
It feels like she has no damage because she doesn't clear creep waves very fast and she can't fight the enemy carry. But Zeus is literally that as well and Zeus is the most stereotypical damage hero. You are also not a wall at all, because you are usually playing solo on the opposite side of the map from your team, so if the enemy go on you, you just die.

These guides are the best. I don't even play carry, but having such a high level overview (meaning general, not advanced although they are) give me such a good idea of what these characters want to do so when I play Pos 5 I can help my carry achieve similar goals while also understanding weaknesses in the event I'm against these characters. Spectre has always been my main carry, in or out of meta. I've got a high win rate with her overall, but this really helps me understand the why behind everything. Why I do or don't want to pick her, why the game is going good or bad for me, etc. In fact I just had one recent win, and one recent loss. The loss was over an hour long and I think we lost with a 10k gold advantage. And now I realize it's partly because we had no good frontliners, initiators or lockdown. The game I won had a pudge and a lion, and they were able to just put enemy heroes on a plate all game while I pulled out silverware and leisurely devoured them. We won right at my power spike around 45 minutes.
@emraanterminator4 жыл бұрын
I just recently started watching your videos and what I like is that you teach the concept and not the thing itself. For example you said that its important we need heroes in the team to disengage haunt so any hero with low cooldown mobility skills to go out and comeback is good. This is key rather than listing heroes as counter as it changes the way we think on hero and counters. I appreciate it.

hey bsj. i don't play dota much anymore but i like your videos. i think you have the right mentality about scorning the NA region for rage-quitting. i also like that you use poker lingo sometimes, and i'd like to see more of it. it's a hard concept to explain to people, but in low information or incomplete information games, it's less important the results of any particular match but instead the overall trend. focusing on EV+ moves and behavior rather than the end result is correct and you do a good job of talking about it but we don't ever hear you explicating saying this. i think it's important to drive that home whenever possible, esp. to combat the slump people get in after a loss or two. it's the same in poker, sometimes you're tilting even though you did everything right, and the best option is to take a break for awhile.

So, I wonder if this is a correlation to surging viewing #s?

Great guide. As a person who just lost a brutal 80 min Spectre game after up 20k+, the advice of Spectre not wanting ultra long games is 100% accurate. At that point, she can't blow up anyone quickly, the other team will have several items and abilities to survive/kite, and she her relative damage falls off. Most importantly, she doesn't have an easy way to siege buildings. So it's about getting Rosh and praying your teammates actually take a good fight.

Definitely loooove to face those chars you mentioned. Having zeus or wr wreck themselves on dispersion is pretty great. Used to go vanguard diffusal on mediocre starts, otherwise rushing rad almost always the best. Definitely also very correct about not liking to face bristle, tide, lycan. Playing against smart sandking can get really rough early game without constant support--to the point of abandoning lane entirely. I haven't played a whole lot recently but was nice to have 3 or 4 reliable item build paths. On the final point about defensive playstyles, there are rare opportunities for rushing diffusal and getting early haunt kills and running ganks (usually with a "backup carry" like jug)--jungle kills (lycan--ha!), hard pushes, etc--pushing the target win time to 38 min instead of 43ish if you have a proper push comp. Games that go into the 70+min mark get to be toss-ups even if you've felt unkillable and on the cusp of winning the entire game.
