BSJ, I think you need to coach this person. Most of us have pretty big gaps in our DOTA knowledge and we also have bad habits engrained in our "muscle memory" while playing. Getting this person to Legend/Ancient or higher would be a true testament to your coaching skills and it would give other players hope of improvement.

Everyone plays games for different reasons and also gets enjoyment out of different things they do within the game. For some DOTA 2 players, it doesn't even matter whether they win or lose as long as they meet their own expectations from the game(like dominating their lane or pulling off some really sick plays). And the lower ranks are a perfect environment for that since most people there either don't know what they're doing or are just fucking around, so I say "if that's what they find fun, why not let them enjoy it". A whole different story is when they get toxic and frustrated about it though...

I think the thought process with the sentries is that when he puts the sentries down, if it doesn’t detect any wards right then and there, then he may feel as if he needs to replace the sentry because there may be a new ward in that radius. He may not understand that the sentry can pick up wards even if they are placed after the wards he already placed. Perhaps!

Lot of people just play 'for fun' - even though they still insist on playing in Ranked, learning nothing from their mistakes, and are more concentrated on their own 'individual' game then they are on the team's goals and game. Also, way too many people have been playing for years that have horrible habits when it comes to how often they observe the map, or how they communicate with the team, or how they farm/skill order - that don't stay on top of patch notes or even major map/item changes.

Yes this is why Jenkins does herald replays. My hypothesis about the wards - dude is colorblind and doesn't know it and thinks those are enemy wards. So he keeps placing wards, and then sees enemy wards all around him. Thus reinforcing his need to by more wards.
