The combination of the story, the animation and the song is one of the most beautiful and extraordinary pieces of work I have ever seen. I lasted until Kate's first line, when he goes back to pick his daughter up one last time and after this, I was a wreck. Just wonderful. Touches the soul in every way.

I can sit for hours watching and listing to this. If you haven't already, do get the words and listen to them. Only you can do something about it. There's no-one there, my friend, any better. I might know what you mean when you say you fall apart. Aren't we all the same? In and out of doubt. I can see angels standing around you. They shimmer like mirrors in Summer. But you don't know it. And they will carry you o'er the walls. If you need us, just call. Rest your weary world in their hands. Lay your broken laugh at their feet. I can see angels around you. They shimmer like mirrors in Summer. There's someone who's loved you forever but you don't know it. You might feel it and just not show it.

Oh my goodness what just happened here? I clicked on this via a link on my FB news feed - and I am sitting here with unexpected tears flowing out of me like a river. I couldn't breath it was such a shock to my system - only moments ago I was sitting here, in a happy & contented mood - so my mind and body and SOUL were not ready for this. A WONDERFUL and emotive piece of music and video animation - heart wrenching - I miss my father so much - he was my world. Taken by Cancer at only 76 :-(

this is an incredibly moving song set against an incredibly moving story. This animation has won awards, and rightly so. the little girl doesn't understand the concept of death, or why her father has left her, he clearly doesn't want to leave her, but death takes him away. All her life there is a void, and she constantly misses him. Until finally in death, they are reunited. I admit to crying profusely on watching this, because I too have lost my father and know the feelings being portrayed here. As for the song, this is Kate at her very best.

Jan Davis I started crying too the part when she started to walk down. to the boat I don't know why but it got me. I lost my Dad at 14. he left on bad terms.he was mad at me. he asked me to rub his back and I told him no. I don't know why I did that he was sick then. I guess I was scared. he was mad at me. when he was sick all the family was there I had my head in my aunts lap she was rubbing my back he raised up real fast looking at me like you better get up the anger in his face. I got up fast. I think that was the last time I seen him before he died. I was just a kid he had to know that too. I don't know why I typed this

@Dawn taylor my mum lost her mum at 12, never got over it until the day she died at 91 years old... her mum was never far from her thoughts, i think she thought about her every day, she even remembered the red blanket her mum had around her as she left for the hospital, the last time she saw her. But i really believe she is with her mum now, also with her dad and her 9 brothers and sisters. But there is nothing like your mum, or losing your mum, its gut-wrenching. Although its really hard to carry on, your mum is with you, watching over you and she wants you to live and be happy, thats why she gave you life in the first place. Shes with you every day.

I think that when an old person reaches the end, and if she has no living family to be with her when she is passing... then the cherished moments of a more innocent time come back to give her comfort. She is no longer alone because the past and the loved ones in it come alive again. We can easily forget that everyone was once a child -- that part of one's life is never lost. It's the world all around us that loses its vision and can only see us as someone in old age.

I lovingly dedicated this song to my intended Husband as a gay man (and yeah, fk identity politics) as a tribute to the love he felt for his schizophrenic, PTSD-riddled Palestinian father who fled the Levant in the late 1970s. My Boy was born in Sydney in 1979, only to succumb to crystal meth addiction and die the day after he left my house in early 2015. I loved him so much, and it took his interstate family 4 days to find him post-mortem. I heard about it as his last partner literally only two days before his funeral interstate - I couldn't attend but yallah, I have never stopped internally bleeding from the pain, sorrow and horror of it all! May my intended Husband be at Peace with his father now. My own mortality will hopefully catch up in time. Bless you, Dame Kate Bush for your magical song which always comforts me - I love you too ❤️💐❤️

I will always remember the first time I saw this film and heard Kate Bush sing this song. I believe things happen for a reason: I was led to see this, and my tears flowed the entire time. My dad passed on 18 years ago; I miss him every day. He taught me to ride a bicycle when I was a young child, and cycling is an activity I relentlessly practice even as I approach 60. Only today did I learn the name of the film: Father and Daughter.

Kate Bush keeps tugging at the curtain to heaven to give us glimpses through music. This, Moments of Pleasure, and a Coral Room. Pure genius.

What a stunning album 50 Words for Snow is and this piece of music is just outstanding. Then I saw this beautiful animation to go with it and was moved to tears. Wow Kate you are one of a kind and just awesome. Thank you for your talent and integrity, my favourite female artist.

Wow...beautiful...am lost for words...animation totally matched in timing and otherwise. Thank you so much...cried my eyes out...realizing how long I have been waiting for my father...(I never lived with or near him. He passed 30 years ago and I am 63) Very healing!

This song makes me cry every time I hear it. It made me think of a recent personal loss of a daughter to a father, but pairing this animation works so beautifully. Thank you so much.

This hits hard but so gentle at the same time. Cried my eyes out... :( I probably needed it. One of the most moving things I have seen. Thank you banberry2112. I hope your sheer talent has spread beyond KZbin. Very best wishes.

We are all blessed to be able to listen to Kate Bush's music. I have a little girl and this beautiful video brought me to tears as it caused me to think of her.

so many times i headed out to make life for the family...burying the pain of separation...sucked into work...things like this work at just the right moment can help and heal...shared with my now teenaged daughter....beautiful moment for us both.... @MrHaggis64 I am not very good at these story based videos so I kept it very simple and allowed the song to tell the story.Thank you very much. Take care
