I am a die-hard Kate Bush fan. Been busy and forgot that the album was out. Turned on this song and had to turn it off. Too many feelings bursted out inside. I had to catch my breath and now I'm sitting with bewildered amazement. You are back. The girl. The woman. The enigmatic human being giving us an insight of what heaven might look like. Thank you Kate! You are loved.

I am a man and a musician who has been a Kate Bush fan since The Dreaming. Good friends turned me on to Lionheart, Diamond Kite and all the others. This is the first track from 50 Words for Snow that I have heard - and I want more. Kate's music always transports me - to lost friends remembered, to my years of coming-of-age, to what's really important in my life. Thank you, my muse!

Man, I haven't commented on a youtube video in years. But Kate Bush is truly something special. I'm a very devoted metalhead but there is something about this womans music that just blows me away. Was first introduced to her when my dad showed me The Seer by Big Country and although that's a gorgeous song as a whole, Kate Bush's parts are what really attracted me. If I had to choose between any metal band ever against Kate, I'd choose Kate. I can listen to her music no matter what mood I'm in, morning or night, drunk or sober, sad or happy, and it always hits a very special part of my soul. She is just simply my favorite musician.

I agree with you! 50 Words For Snow might be her best album, but it's very hard to forget about The Dreaming! Let's just face it.. all her albums are amazing. This album reminds me of the two first album, in a sense. They're both extremely narrative in their nature, but in two completely different ways. Exquisite song this is!

One of the great albums of this new century so far. The summit of a musical legend, who is more mature and more confident than ever, but who is not afraid to break the grounds again, and who is still relevant in the scheme of things. Making the unpop pop, showing younger generations how individuality and success are not incompatible. Mystery is a hook.

+retrobebop61 You are just a mom who did what she had to do. There's always a time to love, even in the past, even with regrets. I listened this song when my father passed away and I was so peaceful, as a snowflake falling down from the sky. Can always find a sweet place during hard time. Music, litterature, arts. We're animals with regrets and souvenirs.

I bet he was a lovely doctor. Think he had a surgery at Plumstead. My sister once found his surgery details in an old London phonebook. He showed her the piano basics apparently and she probably had a few lessons but she mainly taught herself by practising for hours! I think thats one of the best ways to learn for creativity purposes! Honing a raw talent and then you have your own sound, purely out of true love for music!

I don't know how I wandered here, but I'm here..and listening to this feels like drifting in a memory in cinematic sound.. Somehow, it makes me want to drop everything else in life and just make music. Kate Bush feels like a sister from the dream realm. I wonder if she feels like that for everyone.

+April Gee Yep. Big sister. Although she is in fact a few years younger than me. I am a huge fan, but I don't like every single track she has recorded - hey, that's life! But throughout, her keyboard work is wonderful. I don't like this particular song, but I can listen to her doing that piano continuo forever ..... what a touch she has.

Flo Jo, I like this one but found some of the "Hounds of Love" era songs challenging. She's an artist and goes where her muse takes her. She is exploring and sometimes going too far is the only way to find out if you have reached a boundary. I'm happy to for her to endulge her muse ;)

With such great lapses of time between albums, it is easy to overlook the reality that people - the performer and the listener - change. Anyone wanting Kate to be 'The Kick Inside', 'Lionheart', etc. will need to lay down and relax for '50 Words of Snow'. True, it lacks the Kate-isms we know and love. But what it reveals is yet another level of personal and musical maturity...of inner exploration and outward emotion. I long for a band to kick in, but like some John Lee Hooker blues boogie with its incessant foot-stomping groove, this tune is compelling beyond its actual content...simple, floating...like laying on the ground and watching the snow fall from the sky. It holds me for its 10 minutes...and I want more at the end. Like I said, compelling.
