This is a love letter to the fans, also interesting here: Right before this song SAIKI (lead vocals) spoke to the fans alone on the stage without the other maids, she has never done this before and is normally really distant and seems almost cold (she´s not, but that´s the picture you get from her on stage). That was really emotional, she talked about the dream of their first show in Budokan was cancelled and they were really down, especially because they wanted to see their masters and princesses at such an memorable venue. That they can feel the love from the fans and they are really glad they have them and that these times proof that it doesn´t matter where you are from, how distant someones seems if you share the same passion it makes the bond even stronger in those tough times. But she also said Budokan was never a goal or an ending of an task, it was always meant to be the next step for us (the fans and the maids). It´s not 1:1 and a shorter version, but i think that sums it up pretty well. Nice reaction, it´s unusally for Band-Maid to made such songs, but they wanted to give love back to their fans, so i still love this song! Greets from Germany

@@DMiyash248 Exactly these pictures I have also again and again before my eyes with this song. It's very easy to forget that the current situation is not only taking away concerts from us as an audience, but also from the artists themselves. There may be many bands that feel comfortable in the studio and for whom that is enough. But without exception, every one of Band-Maid's live videos shows that the stage in front of a real audience is their true 'home'. And even if they say that the concert at the Budokan was only meant as a stopover, it is still a dream for every Japanese artist to be allowed to perform there. And this dream has been shattered for the girls, at least for the time being. I just wish so much for them that this dream will become reality in the near future. 🤞

Just before the band performed the song Saiki gave an emotional talk about the struggles over the past year. This is the English translation of what she said which gives more meaning to the song they wrote and what it means to the band. Saiki: We were supposed to meet you today. For the first time in a year, we thought we could meet you all, those of you who could come to see us, but we can’t meet you in the end. I’m sorry. Even though it’s not my fault. We have been having days of turmoil for about a year. In the beginning, we were very surprised because we hadn’t experienced it before, and we had no experience of not being able to meet others in person. We were sad, but we found we shouldn’t be sad in this situation. When I saw you masters and princesses on social media, you were more depressed than us, and we thought that’s terrible. We Band-Maid have been thinking about how to cheer up all of you in the last one year. We truly wanted to meet you at Nippon Budokan, but it’s impossible because of COVID, so let’s wait for the day when we can meet. And in the last one year… or in the COVID pandemic, we have become more eager to cheer you up, and we Band-Maid realized again it’s important to give our songs to you. That’s why we wrote this song for Budokan. We made the album also in the pandemic, so it might have a little similar feel, but this song is planned for Nippon Budokan, and we really want to give it to you masters and princesses now. Budokan is not our goal but just a stepping stone. We will perform at bigger venues, and we promise we will bring you there and give you even better songs, so let’s keep it up a little more. This is our present for you masters and princesses. Please listen to it.

I was curious to see the reaction for this one! This song was kind of a love letter to the fans across the world. Essentially it was BAND-MAID getting together and sharing their feelings about the current situation with the pandemic and how it's been tough to not have shows and see all of the masters and princesses around the world. If you read the lyrics it makes a lot of sense. Also it was supposed to be unveiled bat their huge show at the Budokan in Japan which was supposed to be a couple weeks ago but they cancelled it since covid cases were on the rise. Thanks again for another awesome reaction! You both seem like such fun/amazing people! Keep doing what you do!

Miku reminding us that she can sing. She has been more prominent lately. It probably means that the learning curve of learning how to play the guitar is starting to flatten out. She does have quite a good voice in her own right. SAIKI has been amazing and that seems to be the new normal. She really shone here though because it was live and perfect. Watching perfection live is a special experience. In years to come perhaps when BAND MAID is no longer a thing, people will look back at this performance as one of the highlights of the bands existence and I suspect probably be glad that there was no audience to compete for sound space. I wonder if live without an audience might become a thing of its own because this is very special. Love SAIKI ❤️💕❤️

You know the story behind the song: it shows that they are not just a rock band ( the best) but taken with the acoustic versions with just Kanami and Saiki capable of a wide range of music - still their own compositions - at a very high level. How many other bands have expressed interest in their fans during this covid crisis?

"About Us", in the vein of other great mid-tempo Band-Maid songs like Daydreaming, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Wonderland, Start Over, Mirage and Smile, is an amazing song and personal message to their fans - a direction I'm glad to see them add to their journey toward world domination. And we get to hear MISA unleash grace, power and drive that fits squarely within her favorite style of music she so enjoys playing. Stretch Band-Maid... Stretch with all your might. We're behind you 100! Their new DVD/BD/CD of this incredible concert has been ordered! Thanks, Mat & Chels, for bringing "About Us" to your viewers!

Crazy, but every one of those songs you listed is a 10/10 for me (and two to three of those enter unrankable masterpiece territory for me), with the sole exception (to me) of Start Over, which I'd give a solid 8/10.

@@revoranie1127 Well, that averages out to 9.8 -- that's Beatles territory. And that's just with their mid-tempo songs. I think we can do better when we add in their bangers! 🤘🤣

Wow, I didn't expect y'all to like this one so much; seems like you generally favor harder stuff. Mat, I totally get what you said about the intro and outro sounds; while I actually like the "farty" sound, the "chipmunk" vocal sound seems cliche, and somebody else pointed out that especially at the end they really take you out of the whole mood that's been building the entire song. But kudos for only taking that as one element, since it seems some people literally cannot hear the rest of the song because they're too busy going _"This sounds 'pop' and I HATE IT."_ That intro melody, though, is both a total ear-grabber and earworm. I just wish they'd come up with a more inventive sound for it. OTOH, I like to imagine some high school girls shopping at whatever store is trendy for them these days, the intro comes on the store's music system with that overly-familiar vocaloid sound, they're like "OMIGOD I LOVE THIS SONG" followed by, "Wait a second...who is this?" and Shazaming it...a month later they're pulling into the school parking lot wearing their new Band-Maid t-shirts while blasting "Rinne."

Hey very respectful considering it’s not your style. Agreed it has a lot of producer input in the mix. The additional doubled dubbed vocals do add impact to the song though. Shows the diversity in the material and from a songwriters point of view you have to admire that. Can be easy to write 1 genre material but most especially when combined requires real skill and talent. Not here though. Just the 1 pop tone. Still it’s a calming soothing song that has all of the trademarks of Miku written over it. Those backing vocals and combinating with Saiki. Oh so good. Yes Misa. She’s such a creative bassist. All over mid to high range with those many break fills as well. Nothing ordinary when it comes down to her bass playing.

I love this song, however I also agree with what you said about the into and outro sounding overly familiar... everything else is 10/10. That's why wonderland is still my no.1 band-maid slow song. But because the song was about us the band-maid family all over the world, the song probably needed to have the universally appealing feel that wonderland maybe lacks.

To be faaaiiir. It's hard not to crush on Misa on this one. This is far and away her best line to date. This one grows on you the more you listen to it. But I see what you mean, you would almost expect to hear this on a Taylor Swift record. But that's why they only released it as a single, because it really wouldn't fit on Unseen World.
