Here’s a super fan (t-shinji) translation of Saiki’s heartfelt monologue / speech before this song was performed that day: Saiki: We were supposed to meet you today. For the first time in a year, we thought we could meet you all, those of you who could come to see us, but we can’t meet you in the end. I’m sorry. Even though it’s not my fault. We have been having days of turmoil for about a year. In the beginning, we were very surprised because we hadn’t experienced it before, and we had no experience of not being able to meet others in person. We were sad, but we found we shouldn’t be sad in this situation. When I saw you masters and princesses on social media, you were more depressed than us, and we thought that’s terrible. We Band-Maid have been thinking about how to cheer up all of you in the last one year. We truly wanted to meet you at Nippon Budokan, but it’s impossible because of COVID, so let’s wait for the day when we can meet. And in the last one year… or in the COVID pandemic, we have become more eager to cheer you up, and we Band-Maid realized again it’s important to give our songs to you. That’s why we wrote this song for Budokan. We made the album also in the pandemic, so it might have a little similar feel, but this song is planned for Nippon Budokan, and we really want to give it to you masters and princesses now. Budokan is not our goal but just a stepping stone. We will perform at bigger venues, and we promise we will bring you there and give you even better songs, so let’s keep it up a little more. This is our present for you masters and princesses. Please listen to it.

True talent like theirs will shine all over. The world is their stage now.
i remember some dud on one of the fanpages dismissing this track as pop trash... and I was like, bro, get your ears tuned up. The layers of music in this? Misa's bass line? Hopefully someday he'll mature enough to appreciate things besides "hard rock". Masterpiece song.

The lyrics she wrote are really good. I know someone has translated their songs and their newer stuff has captions on it, but if only people would learn a little Japanese, maybe a day or two of anime episodes a year (just for fun and kill time) won't make you fluent in understanding this language but you can understand a few words or one/two sentences from its original language where there is a difference in meaning from the translation. That's why her lyrics are considered poetic by Japanese.
I do not understand. It is the user who chooses the music. The world chose Korean music over Japanese music. The world loves KPOP more than Japanese music. Isn't that the simple reason?
@t-shinji3 жыл бұрын
@@winwin48-x5q No one talks about K-pop in this thread.
And who said this is a simple song? Can you hear those heavenly and endearing bass lines by MISA? Can you hear Akane's humbling but precisingly intricate drum fills? Can you hear Kanami's emotional guitar licks throughout the song? Can you hear Miku's on-point and beloved harmonizing back-up vocals? Can you hear the sentimental and nostaglic melody of Saiki's eargasmic vocals? Thank you BAND-MAID. Just that, appreciating for your effforts in these unfortunate predicaments.

Sometimes less is more. Not too much fan of some of their duracell-songs.. But this can easily become top 5!

from japan I thought about why band-made music is popular with listeners all over the world. (1) Maid clothes look strange at first glance, but they don't feel dirty or frightening like other hard rock and metal bands, so on the contrary, they feel conservative. (2) Everyone admits that the playing ability is wonderful, but the timing and ensemble are particularly excellent, so it feels good to listen to. Especially the rhythm section of Akane and Misa is transcendent. It gets better when Kanami gets involved there. (3) The variety of Kanami's riffs and the solos are not just about playing fast, but also about the melody, so it makes you feel more comfortable listening to them. (4) The individuality of the members is diverse, but when playing, they are mixed well and a sense of unity is felt. (5) Saiki's slightly crunchy singing voice, which has a different image from her beauty, fits well with her song. (6) There are almost no similar songs, and various rhythms and riffs appear one after another in one song, so never get tired of listening to it. On top of that, I feel that the most attractive thing is that the sincere attitude and feelings towards music and fans are conveyed straightforwardly.

You did a very good job of describing many of my feelings. They make me happy when I listen. I feel more hopeful and calm even when I listen to their harder songs and it is the "harmony" or sense of rightness that come from them; that they really are friends and want people to be made happy by their music.

One of many classy things about Band-Maid guitarist Kanami is the respect she pays her fellow musicians, alive or departed. When Mikio Fujioka, lead guitarist of Babymetal's Kami Band died, Kanami tweeted (on her Band-Maid account Jan 10, 2018, translating from the Japanese): "Kind-hearted, cute-smiling Mr. Fujioka, I was able to say a final good-bye to you. [Presumably Kanami attended Mikio's funeral.] I will never forget you. As poor a guitarist as I am, allow me to keep you in my mind while I am playing. Thank you for the greatest music. I pray for your soul." When Eddie van Halen died, Kanami retweeted Wolf van Halen's post about his dad and tweeted herself (Oct 7, 2020, translating): "Mr. Eddie van Halen, I learned about tapping from your solo 'Eruption', and I hoped that one day I could produce the same sort of heart-piercing phrases that you played. My guitar hero, may you rest in peace. I pray for your soul." When jazz-fusion pianist Chick Corea died, Kanami tweeted (Feb 12, 2021): "Today I am going to have some coffee and listen to Mr. Chick Corea. He soothes my soul. May he rest in peace." Thought you’d like to know more about Kanami the person.

I just recently discovered Band-Maid and was instantly a fan. However, this song has taken me to another level. In January of 2022, I lost both of my parents to Covid. It has been a long and painful year, to say the least. I have listened to this song several times now and am moved to tears every time I hear it. It brings back wonderful memories of my parents and the love they had for us. This song reaches deep into my soul and touches me! I want to express my sincere gratitude to all five of these tremendously talented ladies. I hope I get a chance to at least see them play some day in person. Thank you.
