Band-Maid | CATHARSIS | First Time Reaction

Check out the MV BESTIE if you like Incubus and want to see the maids in a different look. Incubus and Band-Maid were playing in the same rock festival Point Fest near St Louis in 2023. According to an interview, the maids met Mike Einziger in the artist food catering area and got to talking. They invited him to come watch them play and he was blown away by their talent. He wanted to collaborate with them. He worked with them in their studio in Japan to come up with Bestie. Apparently he started by asking a lot of questions like what music they currently listen, what the band's goals are, etc. Based on their answers, especially of wanting to dominate the world with their music, Mike suggested to write a song that's more accessible to a wide variety of people. He then started playing lots of different riffs for them and Kanami took it from there and composed the song and Miku wrote the lyrics all in English. When Incubus played in Tokyo in May of this year, Band-Maid opened for them and Mike came on stage to play Bestie with the maids as the premier for that song. Also, their acoustic Live version of Sayonakidori and Catharsis will give you yet another very different look and feel. Last but not least Band-Maiko Secret Maiko Lips and Gioncho takes it up another level in how they present themselves.

When Band-Maid was opening for Incubus in Tokyo, they played ”Bestie” there and Mike came to stage with B-M. When Kanami was playin Bestie’s solo part Mike kneeled in front of her. Lovin that respect Mike gave to Kanami 🔥❤️ There are videos from that 👍

I agree with you on the small venues. While I feel Band-Maid deserves the big venues I'm so glad I got to see them in a small venue in Phoenix, Az. and it was intimate and awesome! I was on the rail right in front of Kanami and loved every minute of the show!

As I said earlier, their on-line Christmas okyu-ji does exactly that. All of the Maids are wearing different outfits that are more appropriate for the winter in Japan. Saiki, the fashionista, and Akane designed their beautiful outfits. If you do take the time to react to "Catharisis" from their Christmas Okyu-ji from the Band-Maid official KZbin channel, make sure you react to "Sayonakidori" the acoustic version with the trio of Miku, Akane, and Akane. It is an absolute beautiful version of the song, that showcase Miku's beautiful singing voice>

BAND-MAID changes their costumes every few years or so, it might look the same, they are different if you look closely. There are only two occasions where they were not in their maid costumes (1) Christmas acoustic online show from Dec 25 2021. There are two acoustic live video from the show on official channel. (2) Beatie MV on official channel, where the song was collaborated with Mike Einziger from INCUBUS.

I think they are on the sixth or seventh version of the Maid outfits now, so there have been variations in the "Battle Armor" over the years, with Saiki and MISA going further than the other members from the "Maid" look. MISA, btw, is dressed as a Assassin Maid, according to Miku.

I didn't get a chance to get a view of "Catharsis" the live video. Thanks B-Drag. If you ever get a chance, the official acoustic video from their on-line Christmas okyu-ji, I think you will love it. In the acoustic, the more casual, laid-back setting, and mid-tempo pace gives the songs a much more jazzy feel and Saiki's singing is so damned charming. MISA's bass really gives the song a jazzy feel.

This is certainly enjoyable, but I think the acoustic version from their Christmas online okyuji really brings the meaning of the lyrics into focus, and shows off the playful nuances in Saiki's delivery that you can't get from the electric version.

It is so funny you mentioned you're an Incubus fan. Band-Maid came out with a new song called "Bestie" earlier last month. It was a collaboration with who??? Incubus!!! LOL You definitely need to react to their official MV next:)

A thing about the maid outfits, Rick: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids. Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working, Po! Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all! But for a non-Maid look, checkout Bestie and their Christmas concert.

While I prefer the acoustic version, the electric version is electrifying. By the end, the tempo feels like the song is running out of control. But as usual, the Maids keep in harnessed right on the edge! 🤘😂 Thx, Rick!
