If you want see more their diversity in genres, then checkout “Manners / BLACK HOLE”live video from online streaming concert, and “Catharsis” acoustic live video, both available on official channel.

Band Maid doesn't play a genre, Band Maid IS a genre. Pop, punk, prog, rock, metal they blend it all together effortlessly. Love the Maids brother.
@mikeat26378 ай бұрын
If you REALLY want to see their musicianship on display, react to the live official video of "Onset" and the music video of "From Now On". They are both killer instrumentals on a scale I haven't seen in decades, and I'm 77 and have been following rock since the late 1950's. These ladies are the real deal when it comes to rock and all its sub-genres. If you like funky blues and heavy 220 bpm drum work, react to the double live official video of "Manners and Black Hole".

The more you listen to them, the more cool stuff you'll notice about them. Then, before you know what's happening you're toast. Addicted. And not sorry.

Good ears, great commentary 🏆 The little “whoop whoop” was in the backing track. Kanami prerecords soundscapes to support some songs. She also records various riffage for their own intro music at concerts. (She’s so prolific that she gives away riffs for free) You’re definitely hitting the points with why Band Maid enjoys much success. Their variety is unmatched. Not hyperbole. Another commenter suggested both “Rinne/Reincarnation” and “From Now On” based on your feedback and tastes. 100% correct. And I’ll add one more: “Moratorium,” live. However, the track I’m most excited about for you is “From Now On.” A heavy metal instrumental; one of four instrumental tracks from the Maids. Remember, they also do post hardcore punk/alternative as good as anyone. And on a day you’re feeling sentimental? “Daydreaming,” “About Us,” “Wonderland.” Band Maid doesn’t just slow the tempo; they are musical shapeshifters
@mikeat26378 ай бұрын
Any time I hear "About Us" I never fail to shed a tear or two. And also "Memorable".

If you like metal listen to the MV of RINNE (Reincarnation). Watch the MV of FROM NOW ON and if that doesn't get your toe tapping there's no hope.

Correct! However, I would like to add the MV "Warning!" to that list.

These ladies really do have such a wide berth of what they can do. Sometimes you'll hear it in different songs. Occasionally you'll hear 3-4 different genres in one given song. This band really is one of those special ones that don't come around often.
@evilducks37108 ай бұрын
If you like them having a wide range of styles... there is a two song live video from an online concert they did during Covid. "Manners / Blackhole." I think you'll really enjoy just how different they can be. I think both of these are fairly different than what you've heard already. And to let you in on a little secret, Madiacs have an innate need to get other people to love their favorite band, so because you say you enjoyed the heavier song the most, they're going to keep giving heavy recommendations to try and get you hooked. Once you're hooked then we tend to sprawl down the pigeon hole of ballads and pop punk and even acoustic, and their alternate ego/rival band of Band Maiko. It's a party.

Just 3 words.....FROM NOW ON !!!!!!! MV....will blow your mind !!!!!!
@howardbrown9118 ай бұрын
I recommend "Manners" and "Black Hole." You get both in a live video Band Maid recorded for their fans during the pandemic when people couldn't go to concerts. One is not metal and the other is insanity. Great reactions Bro! I just discovered you and it is nice to see someone who listens closely to the music. I'll be listening from now on.

Brother, if you want to hear Kanami go full guitar hero check out the music video Blooming. The solo in that song will rip your face off. Killer song.
@jkkansasband70568 ай бұрын
Yup, everything you said JD. What makes them different for me though is the music. I'm not a metal guy so this is where I want to be. And when BAND-MAID shifts towards metal, then that's the metal that I enjoy. Check out FROM NOW ON and you can thank me later. Peace. 1.95

As you can see from the comments, Maidiacs are completely devoted fanatics. If you listen to 10 songs from their more than 120, you will be one too. You will see that it cannot be helped. They have given you good suggestions however it doesn't matter which ones you pick. There are bands from the past that I dearly love but do not necessarily love all their songs. I have not found a bad Band Maid song yet. Their "bad" songs are better than most bands best songs. Give them a chance, I know you will fall in love as the rest of us have.

1:55 twin tails does the lower register, the unisons/in chorus, and the fifths and occasional third harmonies as well. if you hear extra vocal layers as backing track on their servings, chances are they're still hers. 4:13 that's part of their songwriting template -- weave the notes into catchy hooks with pop elements to create an earworm, make the fans engaged with the chorus line, and make their choice notes sound intricate without overbearing playability. you've just unlocked one of their secrets.

From Now On is an heavy instrumental. Might like it.
@dazedandconfused3188 ай бұрын
If you want to continue down the road of songs outside the heavier end , try About Us, Daydreaming, Wonderland, Manners, Bubble and Endless Story (live from this show just released). There are plenty of others, many of which are only available as audio tracks, great songs like Anemone and Awkward. For something completely different try their alter ego Band Maiko, Secret My Lips but especially Gion Cho.

I really like your style and you have a really good ear. To me the HATE? duel is more flashy while the DYTM duel is more atmospheric. Your comment about the hooks is spot on. I grew up listening to 60s-80s music and great hooks were staple of rock and metal. Somewhere hard rock/metal music lost a lot that IMO (maybe due to the angry vocals). BMs hooks combined with their musicianship really pulled me in. If you want to see another side of BM that is very emotional then check out their latest drop from this show...Endless Story Live. I'm not a cryer but I tear up a bit everytime I watch this performance.

Jaso - Sometimes Miku sings her lyrics an octave down from Saiki's main melody to fatten it up. Her backup vocals are some of the most creative in rock music and add what some have called, "a sixth instrument" to the band. 🤘

I, as well as the community, am really enjoying your reactions. You seem to be pretty advanced musically. I'm gonna throw you in the deep end. Blooming OMV, Giovanni (no OMV, just audio with lyrics, and instrumental "white room" is out there somewhere), From Now On OMV (instrumental), Black Hole OLV (w/Manners, online w/out audience during Covid), and if you can find it, Without Holding Back (instrumental "white room"). If you survive, I'll throw you some ballads so you can recouperate

It is subtle but Miku is doubling Saiki an octave lower. Some of Band-Maid's heavier songs that I would recommend listening to are Rinne, Moratorium, Why Why Why, and Clang. Don't Let Me Down is also a heavy song with a somewhat Punk sound and it is sung entirely in English. If you have any kids make them leave the room before listening to it though.

I appreciate any comparison that isn't anime! The only complaint I have from this concert mix is Miku's mic is too low, and you lose some of the harmonies. But considering some of the other mixes we've had, this is still really good. And speaking of concerts... They're playing with The Warning in Japan this year. That'll be one hell of a show.
