Most bands say playing to live audiences is what keeps 'em going through all the hardships, but with Band-Maid you can clearly hear and feel how much it energizes them 🙂

I was thinking the same thing, when I saw their 2020 live show recording without an audience I always felt like that must be devastating to perform to nobody. It must be diminishing that feeling of instant gratification and encouragement they would normally get from a live audience.

@@RichZee777 The *Unleash!!!!!* MV captures how they must have felt, when they suddenly found themselves "in real life" everything in black-and-white, just playing on a sound stage. They had to trust all those messages flying back and forth in cyberspace.

Hi Wave, thanks for reacting to No GOD official live. I was lucky to be present at TGT in front of MISA, 8 rows back from the stage. TGT was packed to the roof with 8000 fans. No God was an amazing performance by all of them, damn the whole Okyuji was the best concert I've ever attended 🙂Fun fact, I can see myself in this video twice. I have the BlueRay on order, can't wait to get it and relive the 2 hours 42 minutes of pure joy I had at TGT. Saiki has grown both as a singer and a front person, her confidence seems to be very high and she enjoys herself a lot on stage. We was a bunch of overseas fans together both outside TGT and inside before the show. I talked to guys from Australia, USA, UK, Chile, France and Japan. We had one thing in common, Band-Maid, but that was more than enough to get the conversation going for hours. Greetings from Norway.

One of my favorite reaction videos is when Ryan Mear reacted to the older video of this song. It was his second song of Band Maid's he heard. The first was Thrill. He was dumbfounded when he heard No God and that was when he realized what band Maid was and what they could do.

Another great video Wave. Agree that Saiki has come a long way with her stage presence. Also think that with the other No God live version being a online okyu-ji without an audience, it was harder for her to generate that same charisma without the crowd to feed off of. But two great performances from her nonetheless.

Thx for the reaction. I agree Wave: this song is one that has that distinctly Band-Maid sound to me. It has a certain beautiful weirdness which I only hear in their music. And it has that replayability that is another of their trademarks imo. It's wonderful to watch how much fun and joy they express in their performance; they seem happiest performing their music live, which is a bit of shame as I don't know how Kanami will find time to compose the next album with the rest of the band clambering for the next show. :)

The Saiki chapter of the Band-Maid documentary mentioned her having had throat surgery some years ago. I think another reason for her being a stronger and more relaxed is how her voice has continued to improve since surgery. She could also be working with a vocal coach who helps her maintain her voice. As to the lightning speed cutaways, could they go try a two-way or three-way split screen for select segments of their performances?

I think the only difference with Saiki is that she has an audience to play to in the new video and it was made completely obvious throughout their live shows starting last year, especially here in the states that she is not taking the audience for granted. Happy for you, Wave! Enjoy the show! To some of the points you made on the video, I too am befuddled by them putting out another video that they already have a video for. They did this with "Sense" and it underperformed. I was hoping for "I Still Seek Revenge"; I think it was the most B.A. (as you might say) performance at the show, it doesn't have a video, and I think the name would draw a lot of rock fans in. Agree about Saiki, I think she's become able to completely let go on stage now. She's always been confident but now she is relaxed. But keep in mind that the older "No God" performance was during the online shows with no audience, which probably felt pretty awkward performing to fans who weren't there. I've seen a lot of people mention they don't like all the cuts, but as I'm sure you know as a videographer, it's one way to give a performance a feeling of energy and excitement and hopefully hook new fans. You can also cut around all the parts that "aren't cool" and keep the focus on whenever each member is being the most entertaining, which probably varies every second. Have a great day.

I think it's hard to compare the two videos, because there was no audience in the 'old' one, but I agree with you that Saiki's charisma and stage presence has increased more than just a few levels. ❤‍🔥 Is it just me, or is 'No God' slowly but surely becoming the new 'Freedom'? _____________________ 「 _"Till I return to dust, I will stand alone in the dark with my pride at the end of time"_ 」- from *Nemophila* - '徒花 -Adabana-' 🎶💮

Hey there Wave. The editing choices made in this live clip of Band-Maid from Tokyo Garden Theater are nothing compared to the ones throughout Muse's Hullabaloo at Le Zenith live performances in Paris from October 2001 (filmed only a month after 9/11) which has some of the most frenzied (bordering on epileptic) editing throughout the duration of that performance. Worst example of this can be seen during the song "Cave". Would certainly love to see a side by side comparison of the two songs in order to view the amount of edits throughout each of the respective performances.✌️❤🤘

I have watched both. I think Kanami does play THAT lick you're talking about, but it has been tweeked/amplified in post production.... she even looks like she's playing it, off in the distance, when it cuts to Miku. We all know that they use "supplementary" backing tracks for keys, strings, digital sounds, vocals etc......... Most bands do this. Ask Motley Crue........ Both MV's were played live, however the first was done during Covid with NO AUDIENCE - only a room full of camera's with the "world" watching on. I would think THAT would be more daunting that playing in front of a full house. As you would probably understand, playing to an audience would probably help steer the show... song selection, tempo, feel, crowd participation etc, but when it is streamed, no crowd - ALL eyes and ears are more focused the technicalities... as in how close the songs compare with the album versions. By the end of their live streams, they worked it out. B-M's last live stream was their best because they WERE less self conscious of their own playing and more about the actual performance-playing it up for the camera's..... and it showed,they songs "played" their better because they understood "the beast". I DO think in the 1st No God MV that they were focusing on their technique as it was a new song for them, at the time...... and now, after playing live nearly every night they perform....... it's like muscle memory...... which has it sounds????? easier????? Waiting for Band-Maid to come to Sweden....... Europe even........

I recorded the TGT livestream and just watched it again. The rising guitar figure is a backing track that is quite loud on this live MV. During the livestream it is rather quiet while Kanami plays her octaves or something like a rhythm guitar (good to see), which by the way she also did on the USA tour.
@WavePotter
@WavePotter Жыл бұрын
That makes sense! It's not that she can't play it. It's just easier to overlay a short lick in a backing track than trying to fill in the octaves track for a short moment while she does the lick and get it to blend nicely! I remember specifically watching her during the US tour to see that lick, and realizing it was on the back track now. It just works better for the overall sound!
